Austin's city center holds more than commercial high-rises and government offices?urban lofts, sidewalk eateries and local boutiques sit scattered abound, particularly in the Second Street District. Come nighttime, the of-age crowd zeroes in on the bars and sources of trendy imbibements featured on the soon-to-be-renamed Willie Nelson Boulevard, and for excellent reason. Trendy, chic, urban luxury intertwined with that notorious Austin unpretentiousness and darn good mixologists on hand? We give it two thumbs up. Cheers to the barkeeps at these notable Second Street District destinations.

It takes getting past the permeating wifts of sauced-up roasted pigs, but the bar scene at this upscale barbecue joint is surprisingly respectable in its own right. Two fully-stocked points of sale stretch the perimeter of this historical Schneider Brothers building, with nightly live tunes serenading the upstairs loungers.
Directly above La Condesa and across from Lambert's, the party continues at Malverde--a jungled outdoor deck with sparkling views of the W Hotel and raging sounds of in-house DJs. Drinks are potent, the crowds friendly, and the garden party-meets-rooftop lounge ambiance a popular hit with the locals.
