Update on Bastrop Christian Church. Contrary to all the vitriolic comments on this site, Bastrop Christian Church had no role in Rick Bartlett's actions regarding this pet. In fact, a strength of this church is that it is not about the minister. Rick Bartlett has not served in the pulpit or as a minister in this church or represented this church in the Bastrop community since the day of his arrest in January. Those making comments here and others in Bastrop area are welcome to join us in worship and fellowship Sunday's at 10:30, 9:30 for Sunday School. We have an attended nursery.

BASTROP CHRISTIAN CHURCH EMPLOYS A MONSTER. Rick Bartlett tortured his neighbors cat for three days, refused to turn her over to rescue (or back to his neighbors), and then brutally killed her. He is a cruel abuser, who has no regard for common decency or God's innocent creatures.

Not only does he does not deserve the title 'pastor' (or leadership of any form), but also, he should serve time in jail followed by strict psychiatric supervision .

Shameful Man- An Embarrassment to Religion. Innocent until proven guilty, but Rick Bartlett has reportedly admitted trapping the cat, keeping the cat in a trap and forgetting about it and in whose hands and whose care the cat was last seen. The cat then ended up at the bottom of a bridge a few hours later, dying. For no other reason than this, lets hope maximum charges are brought and if found guilty, that he is sentenced to the maximum. If guilty, lets hope the social stigma stays with him a long time and that his parishioners jettison him. Forgiveness may be down the road, but in the meantime, justice to be served.

WWJD?. Well, I'm pretty sure He wouldn't throw a cat to it's death or intentionally cause a family to feel extreme sorrow. Matthew 22:38-39 - 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

Rick Bartlett, Pastor of the Bastrop Christian Church. How absolutely despicable that a pastor at your church who claims to be a christian has taken a family's pet Cat, that had a collar & tags, kept him trapped for days without food or water, then threw him off a bridge to his death, KNOWING he belonged to a FAMILY, this man is a cowardly, vicious, unworthy of oxygen, sociopathic scumbag! Only a violent sick mind does something like this, it was premeditated, he had the sole intent of murdering a family pet, a gentle, friendly sentient being!!!! Texas has the death penalty, this BASTARD deserves it!
