Far from town, hot dusty,I'd go back

It's been ages since I have been out to the Range,I was just checking to see if it was still there. Richard has always been a little on the strange side, well maybe a just a little more than just a little. But that said it was a good place to shoot if you knew the regulars and I did ,being in the Austin gun trade for years. The rules seemed to change depending on Richards state of mind at the time. No rapid firing was a given,That seemed to set him off,but Hill country had the longest distance of any of the three area ranges at the time and was the the least crowded. And as long as you paid for each gun you brought you were pretty much left alone. And best I remember you didn't let your brass hit the ground if you wanted to keep it.selling used brass was a sideline I believe.

I used to live here and never once have had anything but the highest respect for the owner. I learned how to shoot anything and everything. I had options to observe and even participate in competitions. The technique here is Darwinism or survival of the fittest. Richard also has a high moral code and work ethic. I believe in the comradery of working towards an evolution, nothing less than through absorbance and observation of religious holy days and his personal attention and blunt advisement of spiritual text.
- Pros: Awesome opportunities for education fulfillment
- Cons: We are closer than ever to 2012
Good rifle range, freakin crazy owner
by TXJARHEAD11 at Citysearch
Going to this range requires 2 people... one for the shooting, the other to watch the shooters 6. The owner is beyond crazy. went a couple of weeks ago and saw that the place was closed due to the future end of the earth. Another time i went it was closed again due to caucasian anglo saxon jewish new year. ya cant make this stuff up. when i actually got to shoot one day, the rifle range is actually pretty good. The targets varry at distances and the furthest is at 400 yds. but after my shooting mr. owner comes back saying that i didnt pay for a gun. I asked him what he was talking about and he said that one gun sounded different from the actual one i was shooting. after almost getting punched in the face by this man, he demanded that i pay him 10 dollars for sneaking in a gun. i unwillingly paid and left. DO NOT GO TO THIS RANGE!
- Pros: decent range
- Cons: bad service, crazy man.
Do Yourself A Favor And Go Somewhere Else

I wasnt there 10 minutes before i decided to leave and never come back to this place.
The owner/manager doesnt know a thing about customer service, and was rude and nasty when trying to correct a couple buddies of mine.
Not to mention that the range is at the end of a long, potted, caliche road and is the worst range i have ever been to.
I will never return nor recommend this dump.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Everything
A very strange place
by jfraz at Citysearch
Advantages:
*metal targets on the pistol range are very satisfying to shoot at.
*little annoyance if you are a regular.
Disadvantages:
*no restrooms. Sometime during the year the one restroom disappeared.
*rifle area has a nice setup however the pistol has the remains of one warped table and some badly scarred chairs.
*The owner/operator whatever the guy is, is borderline psychotic. We watched deterioration over about a year period and did see him ?freak out? on some shooters, including a family grandfather type and what looked like his grandson. I would not recommend children in this place, at all.
*Little semblance of fixed schedule. We went there two months in a row on Saturday mornings to get in some early shooting, which is an hour drive for us, only to find out the place was closed until afternoon (mind you this was August and September) due to various heretofore unheard of religious holidays. That was enough for us right there.
- Pros: metal targets
- Cons: no restrooms, no pistol faiclities, crazed owner, never certain when open
