El Rincon Mexican Restaurant.
When we first moved up here from houston six years ago and was house-hunting, we came upon this place and were hungry, so we stopped in. The food was really, really good, and the prices were even
better!
Well, last week, we were wondering if the place was still there, and since we had no idea where we were the first time we ate there, we had to do a little searching to find it again.
Guess what? The food is still incredible, and so are the prices! Those people giving it bad reviews here:
A. Don't know jack about good Tex-Mex food, and
B. Were probably rude to the waitstaff, only getting in return what they dished out first.
I make the above statements because as a native-born Texan, I believe I know good Tex-Mex food...and the food I ate there the other night was absolutley great! Also, the waitstaff was very, very friendly, fast, and efficient. So, WTH, guys?
I had the menu item called (if I remember correctly) La Plata un Poquito de Todo, which, translated, means " The plate with a little of everything". It consisted of a cheese enchilada, a tamal, a crispy taco, and a chalupa/tostada, along with a small guacamole salad nestled in amongst all that, or rather, kinda on top of the chalupa. Delicious, all of it, and only $7.99! The same meal anywhere else would have cost at least $10! Of particular note was the tamal. Very, very tasty! And this from a total tamal freak.
Atmosphere/ well, let's just say you're not paying for glitz here. Funky, homey atmosphere in what may have been a house at one time. the floor is bare concrete, polished from long years of use, and there's nothing at all fancy about the decor, what there is of it. But the food, the service, and above all in these tight-belt times, the prices are all hunky-dory with me. Now that i've located the place again, this will be my go-to place for Tex-Mex from now on.…
el rincon sucks. We just ate there again tonight. I thought the first experience wasn't great so i'd give them one last shot. The food was terrible! I got the fajitas and the meat was very greasy and several pieces were hard and it tasted like it was made the previous day. The tortillas were supposed to me homeade but they were hard and dry. Our waitress was rude. She never came back to check on us. The only stopped by the table to drop off our bill and quickly tried to walk away until i said "uuuhhm, can i get another beer at least?". She came back with the new tab and set the beer down and just walked away without saying a word. I will never eat at this dive again.…
Worst service ever.. Dirty plates, slow service . I am being nice by giving them one star, if you like waiting a long time for crappy food then this place is for you.
Not worth my time!.
I have tried to give El Rincon several tries hoping that their service would have improved because I really liked the food. But I have to say that after this last visit I will not be eating there
again and will just stick to eating out at Casa Garcia's. We waited and waited to have our drink order taken for several minutes. We finally got someone's attention only to be told, "I'll take your order but this is not my station." So the waiter reluctantly takes our drink order and then we wait and wait for someone to take our food order. Our waitress finally came around and said that no one had told her that there was someone at her station that needed service.
Bad service has happened to many times and for this reason we will not be visiting El Rincon ever again!!!!…
How can ANYONE consider this to be GOOD mexican food?!?!?. not worth your money or time. food was awful, service was even worse. Try the Rio Grande in RR on Mays. Best Margs in town, service is unbeatable and foor is fantastic! El Rincon doesn't even deserve 1 star.…
