Absolutely terrible management - does not deserve this star.
If you are going to make a reservation, let me warn you: they do not know the definition of 'Reservation'. For Valentine's Day (and this is a very busy night, I might add) we made reservations for 8:30 (they said they don't take any before that because of 'dinner rush') and arrived on time. However, the manager overbooked at least 10 parties for the same time. The wait (for a reservation!!) grew from 20 min, to an additional 30 min, to another 20 min...in the end, we were there over 2 hours before we left. Other patrons who had been there long before we had had still not been served, and started leaving (which motivated me; I had an exam at 8am the next morning that I could have been studying for!!). In fact, some patrons were drunk because they could not get served food and just continued to drink at the bar. After quite a bit of arrogant resistance, we finally got a bottle of free sake. They refused to admit error, despite the staff being clearly overworked and understaffed. The few cooks that were out weren't making any tricks and looked very weary. The waitstaff was clearly unhappy, but tolerated the situation and even our insistence of a second bottle of sake. The cook didn't show up until about 11:45pm (for an 8:30 reservation!!), but I didn't get any food because by then I had left.
So, normally I am a pretty tolerant customer. I have done my time in the service industry and I even have a DEGREE in Business Management. This is clearly a case of an arrogant, unthoughtful manager who takes her staff for granted. This was my FIRST experience at this restaurant, on Valentine's Day when I want to be spending quality time with my family, at a restaurant that I normally reserve the expense for ONCE a year. On top of that, I had an exam early the next morning.
This restaurant was a WASTE of my time, and I am deeply insulted that they were so unwilling to compensate the many folks in the place that were miserable, tired, hungry, and about to spend pretty good cash for sub-par service.
So just warning you....
Great Sushi and nice Sushi Chef. Good service too!!. The sushi rice just like melt in your mouth after 15 seconds.. its a super good restaurant.. i love the homemade sauce with crabmeat in it and cream cheese.. The waitor is a nice guy too. service very good.. Hmmm...The Sushi chef just changed his glasses.. look nice n handsome. I enjoyed eating in Kobe.
Average sushi. Average sushi at an average restrauant.
For sushi - there are better places to go to - in San Antonio, Austin, etc..
Nice looking resturant, clean, we ate in the sushi bar.
Service was very good - though the waiter was great on keeping our drinks full. He forgot to ask us, if we wanted anything else. We had to hint and ask him for additional food.
Now to the food.
The fried rice (chicken) was very good - maybe alittle too oily.
There is not a large selection of sushi
The rolls really did not have a exciting taste to them.
The Spicy Spider Roll - - did not taste like crab....we actually thought it tasted like chicken.
The nigiri - was better than the rolls...but you can tell it was not as fresh as other sushi places on the coast lines of NYC or LA. It was average.
The temperature of the food was well controlled.
Compared to Zushi Sushi of San Antonio (which I rather not go to) - - I would go to ZS.
Great Sushi. My daughter and I ate there last night. We sat at the Sushi bar. We tried the Fire Roll. It has a creamy crab middle. It was the most delicious roll I've had there. We also had the San Marcos Roll. Cunchy on the inside and delectable on the outside. Primetime starts around 7:00. Gets pretty busy on Friday nights. We got there @ 6:00 and there was no waiting.
