Im not the type to bash people but these people take the cake. PLEASE DO NOT RENT from them unless you have to and if you do dot all your i's and cross all your t's when renting. Me and my roommate read all the bad reviews but there is always two sides to every story. Now I know they are literal crooks and need to be put out of business. The place we rented was only 350 sq ft. We moved out no problem into my roommates brothers house as we are in a band and it was rent free then moved out into an apartment on w San antonio st. The whole time never a phone call from skiles. Lease is about to be up and seeing how Skiles is reasonably priced we went back. Come to find out a year and a half later they charged us over 900.00 in fees! Pretty shady huh. They have given to a collection agency. I dont want to put too many details as we are fighting this.The one good review on here I dont trust, must of been a relative or something. Again if you rent from them take this lesson we are learning the hard way. Video everything when you move out and contact IMMEDIATLY TO see when inspection will be done and deposit given back.

Haha these people are a joke, I just got f*ked over by the dumb blonde b*tch, she blew up my spot in front of some other kids interested in the same unit I was in there for just so the dumb b*tch could make the place look like a hot commodity and make her commission. F*ck that place, you don't f*ck with people like that. Disrespectful fcks. Definitely not using them

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Was forced to choose at least one star. These people made us live with mice for 4 months and did little about it without us complaining constantly. After complaining about having 28 mice in our clean home, they evicted us mid-semester, mid-month for "being unable to satisfy our living conditions". They never asked us to pay a pro rated rent and threatened to take us to court for the unpaid rent. 2 out of 3 room mates paid and they decided they could take the 3rd ones from the security deposit. This was never an option given to us and we paid $1000 for a security deposit which well covered all 3 roommates prorated rent. Now I am reading they charge you on top of your deposit and bill you for all kinds of stuff. SO, I am currently waiting for the next step in the saga. NEVERRR SIGN WITH THESE PEOPLE! THEY HAVE BEEN RUDE, UNFAIR AND DISRESPECTFUL THE ENTIRE TIME.

POLICY TO DEFRAUD. I stumbled upon these comments and felt compelled to let everyone know about my personal experience with these people. Upon moving out, Skiles kept my deposit and then charged me extra, about $100 for paint and $30 for drip pans. I knew they were lying about painting because, lucky me, I knew my landlord personally and was told the duplex was in wonderful shape and absolutely no painting had been done. I walked into Skiles and asked to talk to someone, was asked what about, and when I explained the situation the receptionist gave me a dirty look and proceeded to yell at me about not paying the charge (which I had just received in the mail 2 days before). When the manager talked to me and I told her what my landlord said, she said she would double check. Not even a minute later, she comes back out and said she wasn't sure what my landlord was talking about but hey! no charges! After reading similar accounts here, I am certain this is their policy--keep deposits and charge college students more because they are not likely to fight back. STAY AWAY!

HORRIBLE AND NOT PROFESSIONAL. I lived in one of their cheap apartment properties. When I moved in, the place was a mess. The bathroom and kitchen had stains everywhere. One of the cabinets in the kitchen was so messed up that the shelves had huge holes in them and I couldnt even use it. This problem was never fixed and I lived there over a year. I constantly received notices that I owed money that I had already paid. Everytime I called them about these notices they would just say oops. One time I called and the lady I talked to ended up yelling at me. Very unprofessional. I was never late paying my rent or bills. I didnt mess the apartment up in any way. I paid $250 deposit and expected most of that back. A month after moving out I finally received a receipt for my deposit. I looked it over and it said I owed Skiles $100. I couldnt believe it. They charged me $120 for paint and $35 for drip pans. That is crazy. Skiles is horrible. They take advantage of people. DO NOT be fulled by the cheap rent. It was hell living in that apartment and messing with these people. I was so excited when I moved out and then they hurt me again with more charges.

Stay away from Skiles!. Upon your move out, Skiles will steal your deposit and add charges even if you were stellar about paying rent on time, were quiet, and left the place in better shape than when you moved in. Even if you leave them with no reason to charge you for cleaning, they will invent reasons. Stay away!

SLUM LORDS OF SAN MARCOS. living in a community they manage is a nightmare. our storage room was broken into twice and some of belongs were taken away. We requested them to replace the locker, but till we moved out they did nothing.

The water pipe in the community was leaking somewhere, and they didn't try to fix it. so we had to pay extra 100 bucks per month per tenement for the water bill for more than 6 months. Several of us went together to complain the problem. They were rude and kicked us out and told us even it wasn't our fault we still must pay the bill.

Trash cans weren't emptied for more than month.

After we moved out, they took all the 300$ deposit and charged us for additional 120 bucks.

Stay away from them. Don't be fooled by their cheap rent.

DO NOT RENT FROM SKILES. I share the viewpoints of the other posted review COMPLETELY. After I moved in at Lindsey Oaks aparments (managed by Skiles Real Estate), many things were not resolved. Tiles in the bathroom tub were missing, leaving holes in the wall - these were never fixed. The area beneath both sinks in the apartment were water damaged and completely deteriorated. I had to buy boards to put in, and when the maintenance guy finally did come by, he was courteous enough to attach them with screws........upon move-out, they royally took advantage of me. I did not receive any of my deposit back, and I was charged an additional 100 dollars. This place looked better when I moved out. One of the things I was charged for was painting, because the walls were "dingy". I had done nothing to walls except leave a few nail holes. Yet they charged 65 dollars. Another thing: I subleased my apartment 3 months before my lease term was up, and they expected me to find someone to sign for a year. (Saved them big bucks by not having to use a locator!) Like the previous user review states, do not rent from these people. They really are committing some illegal things. They are terrible and take advantage of college students who do not have the money to hire lawyers. Stay AWAY!!!!! You might be lured in by some of their apartments that are close to campus with fairly cheap rent. Do not be swayed. There are plenty of other places just as close to campus.
