I remember my parents taking the whole family to Aquarina Springs every time we would travel from our home in Austin to visit our grandparents in the Valley. Now, every time I travel through San Marcos I make it a point to stop and get a boat tour. The scenery brings back great memories of my youth. It's just too bad that it is not an amusement park anymore. At least, forever, I will keep the great memories of the park in my heart.

Aquarena Spings has a glass bottom boat ride. The ride has been around since Aquarina Springs used to be an amusement park, but now is a nature conservetory used by Texas State University to study the spings. The boats offer a view like no other of the naturally spring fed river. The tour guides offer a wealth of information. I wish they would bring back Ralph the Swimming Pig and the underwater Mermaids though.

You can only ride the glass bottom boats so many times before you get tired of it. After that you just walk around and enjoy the scenery. I wouldn't recommend this. There are other things you can do in the area that would be more family fun. PROS: Nice glass bottom boats CONS: Nothing else to do
