So Much Fun!. I have been to the Moon River twice and have thoroughly enjoyed myself both times! Once was for Sunday morning breakfast tacos and Bloody Mary's, and both were excellent!! Everyone there seemed to know each other, it was truly a friendly and even comfortable atmosphere! It was a beautiful Sunday and I had a wonderful time sitting at the bar, with the doors and windows open and visiting with all the locals.

My second trip was on a Friday night and honestly, it was one of the best times I've had in a long time. Once again it reminded me of an episode of "Cheers"...where everyone knows your name! The bar was hoppin', an awesome band was playing, and the drinks served quickly and efficiently.

Would I go back? A RESOUNDING YES!

Try it, it's a bit far but WELL worth the drive!

Best Atmosphere. If you are camping at Pace Bend Park or out on a ride through the (Hwy 71) Hill Country , this place is a MUST STOP! The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is laid back. With live music on the weekends (ex: Clay Jeffrey Band and Magnolia) it's a great place to spend the afternoon playing pool or the evening dancing.

The Sunday bloody mary and mimosa specials are a tradition for all the locals. Many of my friends from Austin wish they lived closer so they could be part of this great place!

Moon River's making a come back. My wife and I decided to give Moon River a try after getting a flyer on our car window when leaving Willie's Ranch on Easter Sunday. Its just up the road from us and it had been a while since we last went there.

Things have most certainly changed at Moon River. Easter was a very busy day at the bar and when we got there it took several minutes for the barteneder (Roger?) to get to us because he was a bit overwhelmed.

We got our drinks and sat down to listen to some nice gospel music at the end of the bar. But they had the doors open and it was kinda hot in the bar so, my wife suggested we head outside.

We noticed that people were eating, and the food looked good. They were advertising crabs and shrimp and so we decided to order some food. When we got back to the bar there was now two bartenders behind the bar and they were both still very busy, but the guy who helped us before finally took our order and refreshed our drinks and we headed back outside.

We had a good time, but it took forever for the food to come out, a little over an hour. The nice lady who was bartending came out and waited on us and I asked her to check on our order, but she said everyone's orders were backed up because they hadn't expected this big a crowd. We were a bit frustrated but she was trying to be nice.

When the food finally arrived it was great! I won't say it was worth the wait because it took forever, but it was really good and all in all we were glad we went.

Maybe next time we come in they'll be better staffed for the amount of people placing orders, and maybe they can get the air conditioner fixed because it was really nice outside, but we would have liked to hear the music a bit more.

The little bar that could. The MOONRIVER BAR AND GRILL to me and my friends is, "the little dive bar that could!" Here any size party is taken care of and attended with the most attentive courtesy. The Bar food is fabulous, when you crave some delicious subs or the best dips and snack foods wow... the music is always good too. You can come relax watching all sorts of people bust their moves or join in the party... Everyone can enjoy themselves without being shy or feeling out a place. I can't wait to my next visit to Texas to stop by there. If you don't stop by the moon then you don't really know what partying is all about. I've recommended it to all my friends and they all love it as much as I do... Come to the Moon and let loose forget your worries and be happy. Robert one of the bartenders and the other staff are great making everyone feel at home..

This is my favorite song to sing to my husband now;

Fly me to the moon and let me dance around the bar, let me see how spring is like in the greatest little bar. In other words maybe I will sing with the band, in other words come with me. Fill my life with song let me go forever more. The moon's drinks is all I long for and their food I worship and adore. In other words the moon's service is great in others words Moonriver I love you... lol
