BEST STEAK AND SEAFOOD RESTAURANT. WOW seems like DineOutReguraly is too damn picky. He should maybe just stay in next time or just go to McDonald's. I bet I know why the manager wouldn't respond to his comments. I would say "GET A LIFE! or GET OVER IT!" I have always had a wonderful experience there! I LOVE IT! Great atmosphere, Great music on the patio, Great drinks, Awesome FOOD! LOVE IT! I would definitely recommend it!

HH at Gumbos RR = Sad and frustrating experience. First I would like to say that i have been a huge fan of Gumbos downtown for many years. Last Friday (5/30/08) we went attempted to have HH on the Gumbos patio in Round Rock.

Here is a quick breakdown of our experience of Gumbos RR Patio HH:

1) Waitress took FOREVER to deliver first round of drinks...wait, actually she brought them out one at a time.

2) Patio manager seemed very OCD about making sure the band had a reserved table for their family and friends. He walked by our empty glasses about 12 times while guarding the big white plastic table. Ah, couldn't you just put a sign on it? Great use of your time. At one point he tripped and almost knocked over a table next to us. He never even apologized to the patrons. What a mess!!!

3) Finally, there was another waiter that noticed our sad experience and empty glasses...he stepped up and offered some help. Thank you! We saw him talk to the waitress. Then she came over apologized for the delay and blamed the bartender. ?!?

4) Let us not forget the appetizer. Our calamari arrived COLD. The most comical part was that it hardly had one piece of calamari. Instead , it appeared to be a bowl of greens hiding a .25 extra portion of Long John Silver's crispy pieces. We pointed it out to the waitress, who responded by telling us that "this is what the calamari looks like all the time". Hmmm....Best part , she turned around and didn't remove it from the table. NICE and Professional.

I was blown back that there could be such a difference in the service and professionalism between the downtown and North location. If you are looking for the Gumbos experience, take the time to drive downtown. This place is a huge mess!!!!

Our Experience - LONG WAIT, OK service (Heart just was not in it), Empty Drink Glasses, Good Food, WONDERFUL dessert. Our party was 5 adults and a 7 month old (very well behaved little gentleman).

We put our name on the list at 8pm. Wait will be about an hour. We'll enjoy the patio while getting a chance to visit and have a few drinks. After waiting for our waitress, it took an additional 20 minutes for 4 drinks to arrive. Tables who arrived after us gets seated. An hour passes by. Then another 15 minutes. Waitress comes by and says will check with hostess to see what the hold up is. Another group is taken inside to be seated. So I decide to go to restroom and on way back, I'd ask hostess. I met the hostess on the way, she joyfully informs me that our table was ready. Acting like I should go get the rest of my group.

9:30 - Finally seated. Scott is our waiter. It took a while for food to come. Our waiter disappears. Drink glasses sit empty. 10 minutes pass by. Finally Scott come out of kitchen, and we flag him over to request a refill. Our Food was GOOD as always. Except for the last bite of my blackened mahi mahi. It must have had some super hot spices on it. Figured it was a fluke. Nope, my sister had the same experience. Darn drinks empty again! We all finish, I request a refill and the dessert menu. Ordered the New Orleans Custard and the strawberry cheesecake. VERY GOOD and PLENTY for our table of 5. We couldn't finish them. Auto gratuity of 20% was added. Cuz we waited for tables as long as we did and sitting with empty tea glasses while seeing him standing in kitchen chatting, I felt 20% was a bit much.

I know first hand what a great server Scott is. I noticed his ability to liven up a table and make the experience of Gumbos memorable - just at the table next to us. As well as experienced his phenomenal service in previous visits. The question I left with now - should I ever bring a sizable party to a restaurant again?

Left Gumbo's a little after 11pm.

Manager has yet to respond to my emailed comments.....

Fabulous food and lovely atmosphere. We went to Gumbos for our anniversary dinner. It was lovely inside and outside, the service was impeccable and the food delicious. Each part of the dinner was good: bread and garlic butter, Greek salad, steak and seafood. We could not have asked for more, and it's the best food we've had since arriving in in the area in January.

The only downside was not a problem with the restaurant, but with one of the customers.

She droned on and on in a very loud voice about her business dealings for over an hour without stopping. We have no idea how she managed to eat her food. The tables are a little close together, but she was the only person we could hear clearly, every single -- loud -- word.

We will definitely go back and recommend it to our friends. Cost: About the same as a dinner out at Red Lobster, and Gumbo's food is incredible!

Great place to celebrate!. My friends and I needed a place to have little Christmas cheer together. After looking at their website, we settled on Gumbo's in Round Rock. It was so outstanding! We had great food, drinks and the atmosphere was elegant, but also very fun! I can't wait to take my husband and go back (New Year's Eve maybe??). We had such a great experience, I felt I just had to let everyone know! Everyone should try Gumbo's!

Who treats people like this?. I have long been a regular of the Round Rock Gumbo's location, and have been going long enough that I even have a favorite server, Austin.

One our trip prior to this one, we requested a table in his section and were told it would be about an hour long wait. We are loyal customers, and this would be no problem. After a bit longer then the quoted time, Austin came to tell us we wouldn't be able to get table with him. As soon as one had opened in his section, the owner and his wife had sat down!

In my opinion, increasing the wait for your guests so that your daughter and yourselves can have a seat is no way to run a business. Austin was clearly upset and made sure the waiter who ended up with us took care of us, and we even saw him talk with th owners about their handling of the situation. They took up 3 tables in a small restaurant on a very busy night and easily increased the wait for all guests, not just us, by a good 30 minutes.

On our next trip back, the most recent one, we found out that Austin had been fired. We know he was there for a good three years, and took pride in the service and food offered by Gumbo's. We tracked him down, thanks to the Hostess who knew where he ended up, to a fondue place, and discovered he had been fired in large part due to speaking up on our behalf that night.

If this is how they treat people, both regular customers and they're loyal, long term employees, you can see why we will never return. The owners, Shuler and Denise Page, have a lot to learn about the service industry and how to treat guests and their employees. I hope for everyone's sake they learn from their (many) mistakes.

Cajun and Creole cuisine with a classic French influence served in a historic stagecoach inn.. In Short
White tablecloth topped tables and exposed stone walls are the backdrop for Louisiana-style culinary creations. Beef and seafood are the main draws, including seafood gumbo, tenderloin St. George and salmon Rockefeller. A popular weekday business lunch and dinner destination, Gumbo's sees couples and families on weekends. The intimate restaurant is surrounded by large pecan trees and a wraparound patio that's a popular spot for drinks, appetizers and live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Almost perfect dinner experience. The only room for improvement would be to allow for reservations. However, the wait that results from the lack of reservations is rewarded with consistently great food & service. It's my favorite place to take out-of-towners, but get there early (before 7:00 PM on most nights) if you don't want to wait for a table.

service was horrible, the food was amazing, the owner fixed it all. I went here for my Mom's birthday not expecting very much. They have an amazing patio with a great band, their drinks aren't too bad either. We went inside and I was concerned with how kid friendly everything would be, I was right to be concerned they do not have a kids menu. The night only got worse, our waitress was horrible I have honestly never received worse service. Since it was my Mom's celebration nobody wanted to make a fuss we just left after eating and skipped the very tempting desserts. The food is incredible even if you dont like Cajun you will find something you love here. Their steak beats a TLC or ALC steak any day it almost melts in your mouth. I wrote an email to the address as listed on their site regarding the service and received a response the next day from the owner. He was deeply appolagetic regarding the service and compensated the gratuity charges. I cannot wait to go back!

Phenomenal steak and gumbo. Went there for the first time this week. Excellent gumbo, house salad, and tenderloin st. george. Great ambiance. With every mouthful I turned to my mother-in-law and said "best meal I've had in Austin since I moved here 18 months ago. Can't wait to go back!!!
