In Short – A favorite with downtowners, this restaurant has prompt seating and courteous service. Walls are covered with Asian art and musical instruments. Most come for pho; unusual and exotic ingredients include eye-round steak, flank, soft tendon, marble brisket and book tripe. Other dishes include the seafood rice plate, with stir-fry shrimp, scallops, squid, crabmeat, fish balls, mushrooms and mixed vegetables. Don't pass up cafe sua da--iced coffee served with condensed milk--an unusual, tasty treat.
Awful

I love both Vietnamese and Thai food and this place doesn't seem to serve either. The weirdest experience because everything was gross and unrecognizable. Not fresh ingredients at all, bland salad rolls, mushy and grainy tofu. Blech. Wonderful waiter and very prompt service, but really awfully prepared food. Visiting Austin and was really disappointed.
Awesome Vietnamese downtown!

I went simple - Pho ga. It was perfect! Admittedly, it might not be 100% traditional, but then again, show me an Austin Vietnamese (or other Asian spot) that is! I am so thrilled to have found this spot and will return often!
- Pros: Great food, prompt service
- Cons: E 6th is sorta creepy if you're not a tourist or a vagrant.
best pad thai

This spot wedged in between a liquor store and Buffalo Billiards is a secret spot downtown. Some of the best pad that I have eaten, next to Thai Tara. Great appetizers and the green and yellow curry both are amazing. You have to ward off the street vagrants but well worth it.
- Pros: great selection on the menu, fast service, reasonable price.
- Cons: on sixth street.
