Yes it's a standby, but Clay Pit got so many Austinites comfortable with the concept of Indian food that it deserves special recognition. The food here is mostly North Indian in execution, and their creamy lamb korma, laced with cardamom, cinnamon and sin, is truly outstanding.

Northern Indian restaurant with nice atmosphere. Expensive for dinner but lunch buffet is a good value. Great goat curry & chicken korma.

Clay Pit is the best Indian joint in Austin. Definitely my favorite place to dine out in Austin. The ambiance is great, and unlike any other Indian Restaurant I have seen so far in the US. The food is exceptional. I especially recommend their Mango lassi.

Delicious and Cheap Lunch Buffet. I normally stay miles away from buffets, but the lunch deal at The Clay Pit can't be missed. Wonderful, fresh dishes with several good vegetarian options.
