In Short – This sunny eatery occupies part of the 1859 Sampson-Henricks building, which is adorned with Thai sculptures and the owner's handmade artwork. The crowd is mainly a mix of students and professionals who work downtown. Menu items include a ginger-infused shrimp stir-fry sauteed with onion, mushroom, celery and basil, spicy pa-nang red curry and pra-ram chicken topped with a smooth peanut sauce. For lunchtime diners, a quick meal can be made from their fresh spring rolls and signature fried rice.
Great Thai food downtown!
by RtotheO at Citysearch
Thai passion is located right downtown and is the perfect spot to go after a night hanging out on 6th street, they offer the best thai food in downtown. The prices are a little high but worth it.
- Pros: open late
- Cons: none
Bad Dining Experience
by kittenslim at Citysearch
I was really looking forward to trying a great Thai restaurant in Austin, unfortunately I went here. The shrimp in my Pad Thai was "off" and the dish was inedible. I never send food back, but this was truly awful. The kitchen staff assured me that this was how the dish was, "supposed to taste." They were nice enough not to charge me for the Pad Thai. Also, the waitress didn't bring silverware or ask if we wanted anything to drink and when we did order drinks we had to do so twice because she forgot. She was very nice, but new. The more experienced hostess was just rude. Very disappointing.
bad food, 2x too expensive
by nickkk at Citysearch
This place wasn't nearly as good as the other reviews said. We had the curry and chicken satay. It looked and tasted like something you would buy frozen at costco and heat up in a microwave. And it was around $12 for each plate.
- Cons: bad food!
