In Short
Opened in 1979, this eatery quickly became an Austin urban life essential. You'll hardly notice the artwork on the walls for all the people-watching. The atmosphere is always electric, whether it's noon or 5am, and everybody drops in sooner or later. The tasty matzo ball, chicken and noodle soup with potato pancakes is a meal in itself, though you can't go wrong with the large Reuben sandwiches. Finish it all off with New York-style cheesecake.

the soup is thick like plaster, hash browns are greasy, hot dog was cold and they act like you are an inconvenience when you complain??? how about that for customer service. don't waste your time and especially your money..

I continue to give Katz's a chance. They continue to prove I should stay up north at Manny Hattan's. The Corned Beef and Pastrami are probably from Sysco, and the blintz is straight out of a box. Truly awful. Don't go back.
