This spot has established itself as one of downtown's major upscale, yet moderately priced, restaurants. The interior is ironworks industrial, with minimal decor and large windows that encourage people-watching. There's always the rooftop deck, with a mister in the summer and heaters in the winter. As with most Sixth Street restaurants, a lunchtime crowd of businesspeople filling up on chicken flauta with Spanish rice. At night, students come for more than 80 tequila options.

Me and my boyfriend went here for dinner and absolutely loved the food! I had the Enchiladas with the Salsa Colorado and he had a Pork tenderloin dish...we both talked about how good that food was the rest of the trip! LOL...Service was great and since we were out-of-towners, they gave us great advice about what bars/clubs to go to on 6th Street. Next time we go back to Austin, we will definitely eat there again.

I left my car at home intentionally. Iron Cactus advertised that they would be open "well after midnight" (or something like that). Suddenly they turned up the lights in preparation for a 02:00 close. I started calling Yellow Cab repeatedly, but couldn't get through. Despite having tipped them well, the Iron Cactus employees acted as if transportation was my problem. I told them I would stay inside the building (regardless of what they wanted) until my transportation was arranged or until the police showed up (having faith that the police would simply give me a ride home). My attitude was that Iron Cactus had some responsibility for my well-being. Finally, a busboy gave us a ride home. Next year, I will choose the venue.

I'm really puzzled about the negative stories I've seen. I've only visited the North Austin location, but have been there several times in the last few years and have always been very impressed with the quality and taste of the food and the attentive, timely but not pushy service. The atmosphere is upscale swank, the service staff is professional and the food is great. I especially recommend any menu item with the term 'glazed' or 'stuffed', and the sauted vegetables, the lime rice or the loaded potatoes are great sides. I've been there with small groups and have had my last two medium sized(~15) group birthday dinners there and always had a great time. A good benefit of the North location is they accept dinner reservations whereas the other two Austin locations don't.

Even though the bar is open late, the kitchen closes at 10:30pm Monday to Thursday and at 11pm Friday to Saturday.
