great food! great atmosphere!. The prices are a little steep! But the great food, friendly staff and huge food portions make up for it! Great Margaritas and couteous staff makes this a popular destination for both locals & tourists. Live music available on most weekdays. Very nice experience!
I love the Cactus. I work downtown and have found a great place for lunch and dinner. The food is great and the margaritas are even better. I suggest dining on the roof. It has a great view, and is a little out of the ordinary compared to other downtown dining.
Good stuff. "Out of towners stumbling into a fine mexican restaraunt find themselves suprisingly satisfied!" Good food and great service. Although the maragaritas were over priced for their size, we really did enjoy ourselves. Def., next time you're in Austin hit this bad boy up.
Godd Food, Good Fun. Great place to take a friend or a date for dinner prior to hitting the party scene of downtown. You have your choice of eating downstairs in dim lighting for a more romantic set or traveling upstairs on the rooftop to overlook the downtown streets. I strongly recommend the Pollo Relleno. A little pricier but, well worth it. I love the array of margarita choices as well. Also, if you are in the mood. . stick around and check out one of the many live music performances they have. All in all, I definately give them 2 thumbs up!
splendid. iron cactus was a great atmosphere and the service was wonderful. make sure you order the cactus juice.
Great Menu & Tequila.
My hotel suggested to stop in at this place and have a margarita. WHAT A FIND! I hung out at the bar and James and Shane took care of me by offering me "their signature" El Agave. These guys have a cool presentation for it as well. We cancelled our reservations to some fish place when saw (and smelled) some entrees coming out of the kitchen. The guys suggested something off of their Tapas menu to start then moved on to a table later where Rachel took care of us, especially when she finished us off with a peanut butter dessert that was out of this world.
P.S. - you can upgrade the El Agaves to a double size EL Jefe, which I think means the boss!
We will be back!
not so impressed. I went there with a friend. for my birthday. Service was unenthusiastic...server didnt want to be there and resented our presence. I had Pablo Primavera. Okay, I guess. Wine was okay. Been to better places, but price wasnt too expensive. Need to hire better servers. Best part of evening was Jackson-Project. I believe that was his name. Live entertainment on roof overlooking sixth street. Worth the mediocre food and bad service.
Good food. The location and the food make this a great dinner spot before a night on the town. The food is quality, with a price to match. But, it's consistantly good. I like to drink ritas on the roof in the heat. They have misters to keep you cool. And you can watch the Sixth Street crowd while you drink or eat.
Great change!. On a recent visit to Iron Cactus I found that they have changed their entire menu and I have to say it was great! I'm a little dissappointed that they no longer serve their famous fish tacos but the substitute was a great entree of Salmon Tacos. I was very pleasantly surprised. I definitely recommend the upstairs patio for drinks and a great atmosphere.
