Yummy vegetarian lunch – I love that a seafood place, also known for its steaks, has a vegetarian menu! I went there a couple days ago for lunch and had the chilled tofu salad. I still couldn't tell you what a herb pistou is, other than quite tasty, but I was assured that it's vegan!
And, it's just so lovely at Shoreline.
Best Seafood in Austin! – Shoreline Grill is one of my husband and mines favorite seafood restaurant in Austin! Their Sea Bass is unmatched and one of the tastiest cut of fish I have ever had. Even though they are tucked back next to the Four Seasons Hotel, their view of Lady Bird Lake makes up for it (and you can't beat the free parking in the parking garage next door! Unheard of for downtown Austin!). I've also dined here with a couple of my girlfriends for their happy hour special. Again enjoying the beautiful views and delicous dishes. I highly recommended going by and trying them out. I promise you won't be disappointed!
Awesome Location, Good Service, Overpriced – The patio on Town Lake is awesome and our service was very good. Where this experience lost points was in the value of food for the money. We ordered the mussels appetizer and it was a few muscles at the bottom with lots of french fries on the top for $15. It was tasty, but french fries, which were the bulk of the appetizer, are dirt cheap. My friend's fish entree was good but not amazing and my scallops were good, but not worth the almost $10/scallop, which is essentially what they cost as there were only 3 of them on the plate. An overall good dining experience, just not "amazing" for the money.
Great place for creative cooking – I am surprised that I had not heard of the Shoreline Grill earlier. My wife and I went there on a Friday evening there was no wait and we were able to sit outside on the patio. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxed evening out and the Congress Avenue bats made the dinner a unique experience. The service was attentive, polite and professional. The food was creative and well prepared, and the wine list while not exhaustive was diverse and reasonably priced. All in all this was a great experience that I would recommend to anyone.
Worst Filet of my life – I tried Shoreline with a private party. It was nice in that we had a private room. I had the petite filet and request it be medium rare. When it was served the waiter never check to see if it was cooked appropriately. The steak was medium well and therefore had lost much of it's flavor. Even more disturbing was the cut of meat. This filet had fat in the middle of it. Very disappointing and not worth the cost of the dinner. I'm glad I tried this restaurant but will not be returning for anything more than a salad.
Shoreline trumps Hudson's – This place is another Entertainment Book find. It's right next door to the Four Seasons, you can actually access it via their parking garage. The place is classy, dimly lit and inviting. No snobby host/ess or waitstaff were encountered. Great place for dinner with friends, special occasions, a date you are trying to impress, etc...I had a Rasberry Mojito which was great, but my entree was phenomenal!! Seared sea scallops with pistachio goat cheese polenta and garlic Dijon butter sauce.Oh My God! granted there were only 3 scallops on my plate but they were HUGE Chernobyl scallops. I felt well fed after so it wasn't all presentation and no substance. I definitely recommend this place, if you're looking for some place more upscale ($20-$30/plate). Do NOT waste your money on someone who looks for quantity over quality. This place is all quality I can assure you and worth it!
It was alright – I wasn't super impressed for the price. I've been to a lot of nice places all over the US... and this place just wasn't worth the price. I went on Valentine's Day so there was a set menu... and the ambience may have been busier than the norm. Food WAS good, don't get me wrong. The mojito's were to die for.
A superior location overlooking Town Lake, doting service and fine, affordable seafood make this a favorite spot downtown. – In Short
This casual and refined spot has wooden floors, walls painted in desert hues and a tall candelabra. The outdoor terrace offers views of the lake and the Congress Avenue bat colony. Grilled tuna is moist and jazzed up by a cranberry serrano sauce, and crab cakes--flaky crab with a tangy mango chipotle sauce; shao mai, petite pork dumplings encased in translucent wrappers; flawless creme brulee, the silky custard finished off with caramelized sugar.
We'll be back – Great food, great service, great view - what more could you want? Well it is a little pricey (why do do many Austin restaraunts charge Manhattan prices? And how do they get away with it?) But for a special occasion you can't go wrong here.
Washout at the Shoreline – When making our reservation, we were informed that patio tables could not be guaranteed/reserved and that we should arrive early to get patio seating. We arrived on time (6:30 p.m. on a Tuesday) and were escorted to the back - away from the patio (which had plenty of empty tables) and the view. When we asked to be seated on the patio, we were told no as we were just there for drinks and appetizers. After pleading that we showed up early because Shoreline staff said patio seats were available on a first-come, first served basis, we were finally and begrudgingly seated outside. We ordered our drinks and appetizers 15 minutes before the 7:00 p.m. happy hour ended and waited for about ½ an hour. We inquired into the status of order, the order had to be resubmitted and we were charged the premium, non-Happy Hour price. A disappointing experience.
