Austin >15th Street Cafe
terrible. This place was awful. My only guess on how they stay in business is that it's in a hotel, so they probably don't need repeat customers to be profitable. I ordered steak that looked and tasted like something from a TV dinner. Everything else that my girlfriend and I ordered tasted like butter. The salmon and vegetables must have been soaking in a butter broth the entire day--they turned out like butter sponges. Usually I'm cheap and have relatively low standards--I almost always finish what's on my plate if I buy it. But neither of us could finish more than a third of our meals.
Great service & reasonable price.
Their tortilla soup is really good, as well as other dishes and veggitables on the side.
People are very friendly and make you feel very relaxed.
Housed in one of Austin's best business hotels, visitors and natives alike enjoy the hearty American fare..
The 15th Street Cafe is part of the Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel and serves three meals a day to hotel patrons and downtown diners. The comfortable, white tableclothed dining room has about 30 tables inside and seven tables outside during warm weather. Breakfast and lunch are usually the busiest meals, while dinner, which is a bit more formal, may also be crowded depending on the hotel's occupancy rate. Solid American and Southwestern fare is dished out.
