Whether it's Gospel Brunch Sundays or a regular old Friday night, Stubb's hosts some of the best local gigs in town. While their outdoor stage is reserved for the big guns -- national acts like oh, say, Bob Dylan -- it's the intimate indoor stage that I like best.
What's the big deal. I don't really get the big deal, I went here with my boyfriend for lunch last week and the bbq wasn't that great (mainly the ribs were dry). In fact, it was VERY overpriced for the amount of food they give you. Also, the staff really does seem unapproachable. Haven't been there to see a show yet, so my views of it may change later, but for now I wouldn't be a regular.
Staffitude. We dropped into Stubbs on Saturday as one of my favorite concert DVD's was filmed there I just wanted to look over the venue. OMG, the staff! These people are just full of themselves. I had wondered why the word "Stubbs" muttered on Sixth Street caused so many wrinkled noses, now I know. You'd think they were the talent instead of being the ones to wait on the talent! Too bad because visually it's easy on the eye!
Worst Service in Austin.
Can't believe the rudeness of the waitress. Having marvelled at US style service, it was hugely disappointing to receive such poor attention. From wrong delivery of order, to late delivery of food, to having to ask sevceral times for items and a 'couldn't care less' attitude. The food was OK. The manager was just as bad as the waitress.
Once the bill error was resolved (they tried to charge twice for the 18% gratuity) their rudeness continued, with no apology or thankyou.
This restaurant does not deserve to be recommended in any Austin guide.
Great Music OK Food. Came down for the Los Lonely Boys Concert, which by the way was fantastic and Stubb's outdoor concert stage in the back was a reat place to watch and listen to music, A+. Now the food - ribs and chicken were OK, but the sides and appetizers needed a lot more taste than what was presented to us. The portions are difinitely small, surprisingly coming from a Texas B-B-Q joint and especially for the price your paying for them. Come here for the music, but you can find better elsewhere if you have the time.
worse service, the manager is very rude.
My friends and I got really sick when we ate here and when I wrote a letter demanding an apology this is the manager's response:
" If you were not happy with the temperature of the brisket, a simple managerial request would have corrected the situation. I would also like to state that each brisket renders over 8 pounds of lean and marbled brisket and this is the only complaint that I've received. We pride ourselves in providing our patrons with the finest in Texas BBQ at a reasonable price, and if that warrants an apology, then my sincerest is what you have."
talking about bad customer service.
best BBQ ever.
The great thing about Stubb's is that they actually smoke their meats for over 16 hours- unlike most other companies that just put on some liquid smoke and throw the meat in the oven.
I love eating at Stubb's - the atmosphere is casual and the food is always good. Their ribs are fab, as well as the chicken.
I LOVE bbq so when i discovered Stubb's i was in love with the meats and the sauces and now i even order them at home. They have a meats catalog, so you can order smoked meats and sauces and pies. So yum!!!
Best Brunch. I can't name a better brunch experience in Austin. The gospel performers are always great and the food is good, but should be better. We've always loved their sauce and regularly send it to folks for Christmas, so we get a lot of Out of Texas visitors that want to check the place out when they visit. Don't go on a show night looking for a quick meal, as sometimes the place is sold out for their big amphitheater and the lines to get in are enourmous.
YUCK!. I'm not sure why this place gets such good reviews? It's either the alcohol, the name or live music that keeps people coming back? Horrible food! Some of the worse BBQ in Austin--close to Iron Works! Don't go here!
Terrible BBQ, great venue.
I'm rating this place solely on the food aspect. Terrible. I mean just bad.
Starts with no parking, then a wait. Then mediocre service (at best) and then you get the food and you have 4 people sitting htere totally disapponted. We LOVE their sauce but the restaurant is poorly designed, you have concert goers standing right next to your plate of food and then it isn't good. Just oversmoked meat and boring sides with no flavor.
Our waitress was...I think the best word is kooky. Nice but really looked like she could use a bath, not something you want to think about when eating.
Between the 4 of us we tried most of their main dishes and found the chicken to be the only thing that was ok.
Never again.
I <3 STUBBS. Some of the BEST shows I've EVER been to were at Stubbs. Awesome atmosphere, the sound is always good, and the drinks were strong! As a vegetarian I cant speak for the meat, but as for everything else, I totally recommend it!
