Whether it's Gospel Brunch Sundays or a regular old Friday night, Stubb's hosts some of the best local gigs in town. While their outdoor stage is reserved for the big guns -- national acts like oh, say, Bob Dylan -- it's the intimate indoor stage that I like best.
Music or Food make a decision. This place needs to decide if they are going to serve food or be a venue. The BBQ is overdone, the sauce was watered down and the sides seemed out of a box or bag take your pick.
I am hungry just thinking.... I loved it!I think those who hated Stubbs must be the same people who complain about The Varsity in Atlanta.Gosh! It is just a fun place...try the garlic blue cheese dressing, fried green tomatoes and catfish pieces....maybe you will have room for dinner.Oh,and just don't forget the peach cobbler!
Stubbs Says It All. I LOVE this BBQ place. Try the chopped beef-YUM! And get a side of their sweet potatoes and fried okra. Whenever out of towners drop in, we head for Stubb's. This restuarant hosts great entertainment as well, fine selection of beer and what about those onion rings! Always a bit of Austin nostalgia.
More for the atmosphere. The food is good, don't get me wrong. But, I've had better. The thing I like about Stubb's is the atmosphere. The rustic walls and wooden floors reminds you of an old forgotten western town. And, this is a great place to see a band.
Great Venue. Stubb's 'que is decent and well-portioned, but it's the amazing acts consistentlybooked that really draws people in. From P-Funk to Nashville P***y, this venue gets some seriously decent crowds and provides some satiation for this town's music cravings. If you've got allergies, I recommend sticking further back as wilder folks tend to kick up some vicious dust down by the outdoor stage.
