Bar that encourages violence and has no accountability.
I have been to Blind Pig on numerous occasions and have never been very impressed with their drink selection and prices.
The last time I went here, I ordered a drink that the bartender did not know how to make and so he chose to ignore me for the next 15+ minutes while serving other patrons.
Finally when I got his attention again to mention that he had not yet served me, the bartender verbally and physically assaulted me calling me drunk and threatening to fight me. He and his buddy then proceeded to attack me and drag me down the stairs while I was facing backwards. They intentionally ripped my shirt and bruised my arm. I was never asked to leave or given the option to leave on my own accord, which is the stated policy from bar owner, Bob Woody.
I tried to speak with management/the owner regarding this incident and have been lied to and ignored. One of the bartenders tried to tell me that HE was the owner when I attempted to find out who was in charge.
I would stay away from any business owned by Bob Woody as it seems that he promotes a culture of violence amongst his employees and fails to demand accountability from rogue employees. What happened to me is NOT an isolated incident; this has happened before to a much more extreme degree and the owner does not seem to care. If you are interested, just Google search "Bob Woody Austin TX" and the KXAN article should be one of the first 5 results; this review service does not allow me to post a link.
Really bad drinks and rude doorman and bartenders!. The staff are all very rude and stuck up. I would expect this from some super chic club that only VIP can get in where the VIP area is VIPVIP. But this is an establishment that has "pig" in the title! The bartender looks as if he is talking to you but I couldn't understand a thing he was saying (maybe it was a joke). The drinks are really sorry, not to mention they use the worst house liquor! If you go onto the roof top stay close to the street area because if you wander towards the back you'll have a nice view of the port-o-potties down on the lower deck! After our first drink (I had to dump mine after a few sips) we made a beeline for the door! Not before we picked up our credit card ($20 limit) and paid in cash. We ended up paying for 3 drinks because the bartender not only can't speak clearly, he has hearing problems too!
Great place to have fun!. Great music, lots of fun people, the upstairs is AMAZING! when im at maggie mae's im usually on the side closest to the blind pig dancing to their music.. Love it!
6 street at it's FINEST. Where to start........the most ridiculous general manager in the bar scene....can you be more of a poser? Lay off the nose candy when talking to people!!! The bar used to be fun and now it's simply filled with the tons of idiots. Thanks for ruining another bar.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Sixth Street dive, beer garden and outdoor patio bar brings state employees, tech heads, students, live music and a large beer list.
jealous much??. This bar is one of a kind!! The bartenders are truly phenomenal and friendly. Always, always busy with a diverse and fun crowd. Joe Vega is amazing!! This bar is definitely the standard downtown(has been for years) . Dont even consider the moron below me...he's just mad that the great lookin cowboy probably stole his girl:)
perfect for gay cowboys!. I love this bar! I never knew there was a gay bar on 6th street until I found the Blind Pig Pub! The management says, the gayer the better.. no holding back. Gay cowboys are a plus!
Love the Deck. The Blind Pig offers the best of what downtown should be. I have always had a great time and the rooftop deck is a great place to spend the evening.
No Water. I went to the blind pig tonight. Because I was the DD, I asked my friend to get me some water when he ordered his beer. The bartender gave him the beer, but refused to give us any water. He said it was a waste of his time and laughed at us. I asked to speak to the manager and the bartender said he was the manager. After talking to him, another bartender came over claiming to be the manager and still wouldn't give me any water. They then told us to leave the bar and never come back. All I wanted was a glass of water. This place is not DD friendly.
