Ale House
A cozy pub that's hard to find but easy to love..
The Scene
There's nothing fancy about this watering hole, but that's what makes it special. Two stained-glass windows behind the stage remind you of being in an old church, but the 20 beers on tap, cigarette smoke and big screen televisions say differently. Old stone walls and square blond wood tables lend a homey feel.
The Draw
There's no dance floor here, but their comfy couches offer a great spot for drinking beer with your buddies. The slightly hidden alley entrance attracts 20- and 30-something locals looking to avoid the mayhem on 6th Street and seeking something more low-key. Think you're a performer? The bar hosts open-mic night on Wednesdays. Other acts include local musicians and the occasional touring act other evenings. The small yet satisfying menu features deli sandwiches and standard fried fare like chicken wings, chicken fingers and a fry basket.
In the alley. Great bar in the alley behind Pecan Street Grill on 6th. It's a great place to hang out and not have to deal with the drunkeness on 6th street. It's a really good place to see a band play as it has balconys over the bar.
