Editorial Review for Shakespeare's Pub – by Tara Hall
In Short
European flags hang from the ceiling, leading patrons to believe that international sports are second only to Jagermeister here. Daily drink specials entice a 20-something collegiate crowd, who linger in the anteroom for drinks or heckle pedestrians in the highly coveted space alongside the sidewalk. There are over 50 bottled beers and a handful of popular drafts to sip while enjoying the TVs flanking the bar or the near the pool table in the rear.

This Pub is the place in Austin to become one of the "family", no matter your age, ethnicity, gender, etc. The Bartenders are stupendous, drinks superb. Everyone is somebody here. The crowds are diverse, fun is the game. Everyone dances with everyone,,,, no snobs here. You can sit at the bar or at a table with strangers and become friends quickly. I am most likely the Oldest patron and I have as much if not more fun here than anyone. I am quickly included in groups,, and treated so wonderfully. Young guys buy me drinks,,,, etc. The staff and I are old friends and very close. I have moved to Ft. Worth and come back every 6 - 8 weeks for the Shakespeare's experience. This is the best and warmest place on this earth. Go, dance, drink, mix with the crowd,, have a Blast.
Pros: Just the best place to have a great time.
Cons: Bathrooms too small

This bar has a tendancy to shift between good and very good. If you like a crass bartender who will tell you straight, go early. Stephan is one of the best at tending bar in town. The mood of the bar does shift after around 10 pm. Shakespeare's is one of the best places in town to be a regular. Dont let it's 6th street locale scare you off.
