Editorial Review for Maggie Mae's – by Ben Niekirk
In Short
This Austin institution has a split personality. On one hand, you have the pub, with its large selection of draft beers. On the other hand, you have four distinct bar areas that accommodate a variety of crowds. Regardless of particular interests, this is a quintessential place to start out the night on famed Sixth Street. Expect to see a lot of college students and tourists soaking up the suds and the Southern-fried rock.

I went here on a Friday night and it was packed! The beer wasn't too expensive for 6th St. and they had a really good guitarist playing some Hendrix. I like the way they divide the bar up. I will definitely be coming back.

This used to be the best bar in town in the heyday of UT. It's still pretty popular, but the crowd has gotten older and the music isn't quite as good. Lots of out of towners come here, so if you're looking to meet one of them, this is your spot. Live music on weekends.
