What People Are Saying About Emeralds

In Short – "Yes" reads the neon sign at Emeralds' entrance--and yes, they have just about everything. Don't be surprised to find a $50 shirt next to a $250 dress in the color-coded racks of clothing from BCBG, French Connection, Corey Lynn Calter, Michael Stars, Killah and Volcom. Shoes are from Diesel, Enzo and Steve Madden. Glass display cases are stocked with jewelry from local artists like Laurel Larsen and stained glass from Stonehouse Gallery.

- Emeralds also sells cards, stationery, candles, frames and gifts, including ceramic and metal crosses, as well as addictive bath and body products.

- Get on the store's Nuggets mailing list for subscriber-only promotions and special offers.
Terrible

I have lived in Austin for 12 years and stopped in Emeralds to see what it was like. The sales girls were rude and too busy talking about their gossip than they were about helping customers. The owner happened to be in the store, and he was just plain out rude as well. Kind of junky environment and doesn't have a good reputation around town for clothing that will last. Don't waste your time.
- Pros: Some cute items
- Cons: Unfriendly staff, rude owner
Wake up shoppers

I'm an Austin native and a long-time customer of Emerald's. The only comment I have to make about the statements regarding customer service issues is that it seems the attitude of the clientele has drastically changed over he past several years. Many of those from Houston, Dallas. etc. now making their shopping trips in a city that was for so long snubbed as being a hippie town are expecting their crappy attitudes to warrant great customer service. The people at this store have always been kind and helpful, but I also believe you attract whatever behavior you receive from others So, either go back to your Gucci and Fendi stores or take a look in the mirror before you pass judgment on a store that has been here long before you ever cared to notice.
- Pros: Great selections, prices
sub-par

i was expecting more from emeralds. i agree with the other reviewer that the customer service really sucks. i hate to drop money on clothes where the girls working there won't even get off the phone long enough with their friends to see if i need any help. they have a really great nick-nack selection much better than their clothes which seem like last years dregs or something they got 1/2 price off of bluefly in super small sizes (i'm saying this and i'm a size 6 if that tells you anything). as they say they carry good designers just not the best lines. if you're desperate for "high fashion" and want to stay away from the mall then shop at emeralds. if not buy exactly what you want off line instead of settling for sub-par selection and service.
- Pros: nice nick-nack select, centrally located
- Cons: poor customer service, bad size selection
consistently bad

Funny- reading the reviews of this store for the last few years... it looks like the customer service has stayed consistently bad... and the store has remained perpetually cluttered. At least some things don't change!
- Pros: consistently bad, dress in window, little puppy inside
- Cons: no parking, too expensive, cluttered

Emeralds is a cute shop with a variety of cards, stationary, clothing, jewelry, and whatever else you could possibly imagine. However, the customer service was awful - the sales staff seems rather snotty - and I will probably not be back.
- Pros: Variety
