Good Tailor
by Melissa14
I've been a satisfied customer of Ace Tailors for years. I don't normally have anything other than a simple hem altered or easy repair made and I've always been happy. They altered a bridesmaid dress for me once and it turned out just fine, as well. I take more expensive / complex alterations to my personal tailor and it usually involves a series of visits to get the fit right -- this common sense. As far as customer service goes, the ladies are friendly but aren't the gushy type so don't sit around waiting for them to ask you a thousand times 'can I help you'!

This place used to be good. But the last time that I came to have a pair of $150 pants hemmed they were in such a rush that they only put in ONE hem pin. My concern was legitimate since they ended up cutting them too short. Meanwhile, they charged me $28 for the favor. I won't go back.
- Cons: Overpriced, careless work
only if you have money to throw away

I came in to fix a small (half inch) hole on the seam of a sweater (it had unraveled). Last year, I had a similar situation (same brand of sweater, same type and size of hole), and I came to Ace; they fixed in on the spot for $3.50. This time, they said it would cost $9.50!!! When I asked how it could possibly be so expensive, they told me that even putting thread on a spool is work that justifies that price (!!!). Then they said they'd added on an "express" cost. My choice was either to pay this exorbitant price to get it done then, or to pay the only slightly cheaper ($8.00) price to pick it up a week later (a week! for a hole!!). Also, lately I've taken a few skirts in that needed to have the waist taken in. Out of three skirts, they said they couldn't do two -- they said they don't have the right kind of machines (who does, then?!). The third skirt ended up costing $40 to take in (I have no idea why -- it was a simple, unlined cotton skirt)! That's almost the price of the skirt. This is typical at Ace -- they just keep getting more and more expensive. I'm through paying for their high-rent location.
- Pros: decent work
- Cons: wildly overpriced
