In Short – A classic neon sign advertises that this two-story half-timbered faux chalet is air-conditioned. Past the green-and-white exterior sits a graffiti-marked bar and a jukebox offering everything from James Brown to Pearl Jam. This dive, which dates back to the Prohibition era, is the headquarters for virtually every sports fan club in town, but also offers video games, pool tables, pinball for those who have little interest for that sort of thing.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE
by Alice29
I was recommended to this bar from a friend who says he goes there all the time for sports watch parties. To say the least my husband and I were very displeased with everything. The bartender talked to a girl for almost ten minutes, while my husband was waiting on a drink; needless to say there were only three people at the bar. Finally we got our drinks. We waited outside for almost 20 minutes before anyone came to our table-I could not believe it!!! also, what seemed to be a relaxed Friday night...the manager, and I believe a bartender(off duty) were HIGHLY INTOXICATED... why do I want to go to a bar where the staff and management team cannot hold their act together. My next call should be the TABC.
Furthermore, my husband went in weeks later to grab drinks with friends, and the same bartender was yelling at this random girl about a past relationship I am assuming with the same manager on duty drunk yelling too! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE, and if the owners knew this was going on I would fire half the staff there and start over.
- Pros: NOTHING
- Cons: Staff, Drinking on the clock
Overworked wait staff, good food, ok TV's and way too hot
by shaft28
We popped in to catch the LSU vs N. Texas game and the USC game too last weekend. Very crowded but we showed up as the game started. Luckily we squeezed into a table in the front room as it just came open as we were about to leave.
One waitress working many, many tables. We had to ask for more water, silverwear, napkins, forgotten side dishes. I mean, she was a sweetheart and we knew she had waaay to many tables. Cheap owners is what that equates to. Too bad because had she come over more often we would have ordered more beer.
The food was good though - fries, mini burgers (although overcooked were still tastey) and some other apps. All good at an ok price. A little high on a few items.
Clean beer glasses would have been nice but we knew we'd never see the waitress again sice our pitcher sat for 5 minutes before the glasses arrived...so we cleaned then on the 1 napkin we stole from a neighbor and limes.
Many of the smaller mounted TV's were in bad shape and you could barely see. If I come to watch a game I want to go somewhere that has all their equipment in shape. Only the large screens looked good.
Worst part is you see the sign "Now with A/C" but it sure didn't feel like it. We sweated so much it was ridiculous.
I can't see us going back.
Yummy Honey Mustard & Hawaiian BBQ Burger
by cherielouise
This place has the BEST Honey Mustard ever for dipping, spreading, etc. I had some sort of Hawaiian BBQ Burger with a big pineapple slice on it, along with BBQ sauce and bacon. Yum. The serveress was quick and friendly, and the place is cool. The rest of the menu looks good too. My date had Mac and Cheese, and it was actually cheesy, versus the cheese-like liquid that is on most restauraunts Mac and Cheese. I'd recommend it.
