In Short – A dim, cozy and clubby interior houses an upscale clientele. Regular patrons are greeted at the door by name by the friendly, efficiently unobtrusive staff. On any given night, you might dine a few tables over from Geena Davis, Henry Kissinger or George W. Bush. Starters include sesame-mushroom crepes and crispy oysters on yucca-root chips with habanero-honey aioli. There's also tender veal osso buco and beef tenderloin with mustard-peppercorn sauce.
AMAZING FOOD!
by austinfooddork
the new chef they hired is fantastic. the new menu is exciting and delicious. this place used to be so over rated but i am happy to report that jeffreys is back!
favs on the menu:
new fried oysters, awesome pate and cheese plate, thumbalina or st johns salad, cauliflower soup with poached oysters!, and amazing scallops.
and at half price bar apps from 5-7, this is an elegant place to visit for those in the know.
- Pros: great new menu! local and classic.
- Cons: never saw a manager
Portions way too small
by ygs6
While I found the atmosphere above average and the food delicious, the portions are tiny and not worth the price. I would be happy to pay above average prices if I felt that the portions were adequate. We were with a group party and some of people were going to stop and pick up a burger on the way home. At $65 price tag per person no one should have left hungry!!
- Pros: ambiance
- Cons: portion size
The reputation is the only good thing about this place

My wife and I decided to go to the infamous Jeffery's restuarant for our 5th wedding anniversary because of the longtime fantastic reputation this place has. We drove up, and I kept checking the Navi to make sure we were at the right place because it is NOT in a very nice part of town. We found it and pulled up to the valet, very prompt and courteous. We walked into this hole in the wall looking place hoping for some incredicle decor, well this is what I saw: 12 tables in a tiny room, with very old looking floors, black drop ceiling tiles from the 70, pictures of what looked liked George Washington and wood paneling along the walls to match. We sat down still waiting to be impressed, and we immediatly noticed that we could hear every conversation in the room because it was so small. You cannot have a private conversation without whispering. We started with appettizers, fried oysters and the quail, both which were mediorce. We ordered the tenderloin and ahi tuna for dinner, while we were waiting we ordered a few martini's. Drinks were good, but at $11 per drink its pretty steep. We ordered another round and they took about 20min, paying that much at a fancier restuarant they should have arrived much sooner. The waiter did apologize and comp'd one of them. We got our dinners, and the steak was decent, perfectly cooked and had a tasty brown sauce to it, nothing fantastic. I had the Ahi, and it was pretty good but it should have knocked my socks off for the price. Dessert was akin to a Hostess cupcake, I'm not kidding. Want to know about the bathrooms? Think 70's, nasty flooring, sludge covered pipes, door lock that was rigged. I just can't believe how poorly this place is put together. They are a perfect candidate for an Xtreme home makeover, only problem is that they are probably making money hand over fist.
Our first impression was , valet was prompt, and hostess was prompt to seat us(w/reservations). Firs
- Pros: I can now say I went there, thats it.
- Cons: Lousy atmosphere, tables too close, food too $$$, wait until you go home to poo <shivers>
