Green Pastures

This is a romantic place for dinner with a beautiful atmosphere

  • Romantic restaurant
  • Outdoor weddings and banquets
  • Sunday brunch

The genteel culture of the Old South is preserved at this elegant dining room serving nouveau continental cuisine.

Occupying the circa-1894 childhood home of humorist John Henry Faulk, Green Pastures retains the charm of an earlier era. The subdued interior is elegant and old-fashioned, with carved fireplaces, antique furniture and long, sweeping drapes at the tall windows. Large live oaks, shrubs and flowers dominate the grounds, which are home to a family of peacocks. While still a draw for lunch and dinner, the restaurant serves as a popular site for outdoor weddings and banquets.

Green Pastures is the place to get married! Everything ran smooth and Tanya was wonderful in every way. She was great not just with me but with my parents as well. Who can be difficultl. My husband and I held our ceremony in the round under the oak trees at 11am on a Saturday in April. We had a brunch reception with Bloody Mary's and Mimosas with a champagne toast. The food was great, the drinks were delicious, the service was top notch and they even made sure the weather was ideal:) They were so great at handling everything else, I thought for sure they made the sun shine that day too! I was worried a brunch wedding would be too non conventional and maybe boring, but Tanya and Green Pastures made sure it was a stunning ceremony and reception. Our guests said it was the best wedding they have been to in a long time because it was romantic, intimate and classy. My big day went off without a hitch and the whole event had a wonderful flow thanks to the staff at Green Pastures. All day I felt like I was floating through a dream. The atmosphere at Green Pastures is truly dreamy. Not only did I feel it that day, but at other weddings I have attended there in the past. My favorite guests were the peacocks who really added to the magic. The house along with the peacocks lend themselves to some kind of Victorian psychedelic daydream. I suggest holding your ceremony in the Spring when the trees are full, everything is green and the peacocks fan their beautiful tails during their mating ritual.

Kudos to Green Pastures staff for giving me, my groom and our family and friends the most enjoyable experience on our big day. Our coordinator, Erica, perfectly arranged the special events and flawlessly kept things moving, all with the most pleasant demeanor and thoughtfulness. Our waiter, Brian, was graciously attentive to us and our guests with his unparalelled service. Thank you Erica and Brian for making our walk down the aisle truly special. Cheers, The Kirkpatricks
