My favorite TexMex happy hour! Free chips and queso and stellar margaritas. For dinner? The chicka chicka boom boom. And always ask for creamy jalapeño dip to enjoy with chips!
Amazing!. Delicious! So much fun to eat here, a must for anyone new to Austin!
great mexican. I have been a fan of this resturant since I first moved into Austin about 14 years ago. It is a simple resturant with no airs, great food, and good service. I have never been disappointed in my meal or my drink. With all these new places opening up, it is good to know that the old staples still exist and have far better food then they ever will - no one can compete with chuys
LOVE Chuy's!.
I wish they would clean their window sills and blinds, but apart from that we are never disappointed at Chuy's.
This was the first time at this location. As always the food was plentiful and hot.
The jalapeno ranch dip is totally addictive as well as the queso. My favorite dish ever is the deluxe chicken enchiladas which is always filled liberally with good white meat chicken.
Waitress was a little ditsy, but hey - it's Austin! :)
Average food. I'm confused what the big deal is about. The food is good, definitely not great. We asked for their spiciest salsa only to find out we were already eating it (come on, this is Texas, we like spicy). Nothing was bad, but definitely not worth the hour wait. I think it's just the trendy place to go. There are plenty of restaurants with better, cheaper food and shorter waits.
Best in Texas!. I have been going to Chuy's ever since I was a little girl and I would recommend it to anyone who likes Mexican Food. It is one of my favorite resaturants! They're queso is amazing also!!! And it's not even that expensive.
Outstanding Food!!!. I've been eating Mexican and Tex Mex for over 40 years in Houston, Dallas Ft. Worth,, San Antonio, Austin and a lot sof smaller towns all over the state. I'd rate Chuy's in the top 5 of all of them. The food was great, service was outstanding and although the price was a couple of dollars more than I normally pay at the majority of the other places the quantity was also greater. I was surprised at how busy it was at 4:30PM on a Friday but we didn't have any problem getting a seat right away.
Good times..... If you want to have a little fun with a whole lot of energy then this is the place to go. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed with families and college students. The wait for a table was 45 minutes long but, it wasn't too bad considering there was a self-serve chips and salsa bar and you could order drinks before your meal. It was fast and easy! Before too long, (or was it?) we were at our table ordering our food. The food was really good and the service was great, thanks to Jimmy G. a.k.a. "Nancy". I was torn to get a salad and had ordered the "Chicka-chicka Boom-boom" instead and the sauce is so good! Creamy and rich but, the cilantro and lime give it a fresh appeal and cuts the creamy-richness in half. The chicken inside was lean and flavorful and without the "icky-chicken" taste. The desert I had was recommended by our server, a mexican cake, was excellent and something I had never had! After all of that wonderfully loud food, it cooled and calmed my palate and made everything so satisfying, even though I was so full from my entree! My only complaint would be that the food is a bit salty and would like it to be toned down especially for the children's menu.
Not going back. The only thing that keeps this place in business is its local charm. I watched 6 tables that came in AFTER me be seated varying from 2-4 person parties. I had a party of two. The hostesses are all high-school girls, and that's exactly how the place is run. I was given a cup of water which was half-full when I got my meal, and I didn't see my server (who appeared to be stoned off her a$$ the entire time) again. It wasn't until I finished my meal that I got a refill. The food was just as lousy as something I'd expect from Taco Cabana. If you're a local Austin half-baked-hipster, you'll love it because it's sooooo Austin. If you have any taste, I'd advise spending your money elsewhere.
Best tex Mex in the country. I have tried in vain to find a better Tex-Mex joint. This is the best there is period. Consistent, tastey and quick (once you get a seat). Well worth the wait.
