Italian?.
This place is an insult to anyone who knows what Italian food should taste like. Italian food is about freshness which is far far far away from this chains mentality. The name "garden" should imply fresh ingredients, but nothing here is fresh. Canned and frozen are the way of this place with the small exception of the salad. The pasta isnt even made fresh! Real Italian made pasta is all about the pasta, and not the gallon of canned, over-salted sauce that gets dumped over it! You can find a better and cheaper meal in the freezer section of your local HEB and that isnt saying much!

Best dining experience I've had in ages.
The nurse and I dropped in at the S. Lamar OG around 9pm last Saturday night (after being turned away at Johnny Carino's on Brodie), and it was the best thing Carino's could have done for us. Our server, Jay, was the epitome of how waitstaff everywhere should conduct themselves. The atmosphere was delightful, the food fantastic, and the service was superb. 180 degrees from our experience at Southpark Waterloo's.

Traditional dishes and all -you-can-eat salad, soup and bread sticks are the draw at this upscale-casual Italian restaurant..
In Short
Established in 1982, this chain gained a following for its laid-back atmosphere and generous portions. Patrons settle into comfortable booths and tables in dining rooms with plants, artwork and décor reminiscient of the villas in the Tuscan countryside. Starters include scampi, sausage or pepperoni pizza, and several soup choices, as well as a signature seafood dip (crab, shrimp, cheese and marinara). Entrees include classics like lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo and chicken parmigiana. There are also "Garden Fare" options, which promise 30 percent fewer calories.
