I was very disappointed when I received my boots in the mail. I loved how they looked online, but what I got was not even close. They weren't the same color and they did not have any distress look, which they did on their website. Gayla refused to reimburse me for shipping and handling. I will never buy a boot from here again. If your product is not what you advertise if as, the least you should do is reimburse for shipping.
RETURN POLICY IS RIDICULOUS!!!.
Bought my husband a pair of boots for Christmas. Unfortunately, they didn't fit and my hubby didn't love them. We went back to the store to look for another pair, but just couldn't find anything that he liked. We decided to just return them and go look somewhere else.
At this point, I'm informed that returns are for STORE CREDIT ONLY. Mind you, these boots were $550 and a Christmas present. I told the salesclerk that no one had informed me of that. His reply - "Oh, it's on the receipt," You know you one you get AFTER you purchase something??? Ridiculous. He says "And, it's also posted over there on the wall." (Surrounded by a bunch of other signs and advertisement posters, etc.)
I explained that we couldn't find anything we liked so we just wanted to return them and asked if they could make an exception since it was a holiday gift purchase. Nope, been doing business that way for 30 years. Sorry.
Keep in mind also, that I had talked quite a while to the salesman (very same guy) when I purchased them that I wasn't sure my husband would like the new block toe style. He said "no problem, just don't wear them outside and scuff up the bottoms and you can bring them back. " Never told me for STORE CREDIT ONLY or I wouldn't have gambled that I'd be in a position to not have a present for my husband for Christmas.
Also please note that I live in NW Austin and drove all the way downtown to do the Keep Austin Weird thing and "Shop Small" by trying to buy local. I can tell you this will be the last time I do that and I will be telling others not to also. In this electronic day and age, there is no reason to not refund customers money when they return an unused item within 2 weeks during the Holiday season.
Shame on you Allens for ripping people off!!
Back to Cavenders or Sheplers for me.
Terrible Customer Service. I use to buy my boots only here, however after my last experience I will not buy anything from them again. I went in looking for a durable pair of boots to wear in San Francisco on vacation. I wound up with a pair of Justin Ropers, thought the low heal would be a nice change with all the hills, I wore them twice and the leather ripped from me crossing my legs and striking the boot with the heal of the other boot. Obviously not durable at all. I went back to the Round Rock location the day I came back into town. The General Manager told me he could do nothing for me even though his sales person didn't know what they were talking about and obviously the boot even if it wasn't durable had some thin leather on it and was defective. He told me I should find a repair shop. I have worked in retail including with shoes and I have never been treated so bad or ran into someone unwilling to help. Take your business somewhere else.
I agree with last post - type of store that makes Austin what it is. I go there almost everytime I am on South Congress. I love walking in the door just to smell all that leather...very cool and always friendly...nice shirts, too.
Best selection of unique boots I have ever seen!. I was in awe of their selection of aisle after aisle of cool boots! Very Cool store with the quintessential 'Austin vibe'
good place to shop.
just a bit of advice- for customer sevice don't use e-mail- call them if there is a problem and it will be solved
quickly and in a freindly manner
Also....TOWED at Round Rock location!!!. I was in Austin visiting from Nashville and went to eat at Pluckers (next door to Allens Boots). There no other cars in their parking lot (and they have at least 40 parking spots in their lot) at 7:30pm on a Tuesday night. So I'm thinking there is no problem, as I wouldn't be taking away a spot from any of their customers (of which they had none). I come back from dinner only to find my car had been towed. And, yes, the employee I spoke with was rude and had a handy stack of business cards from the towing service at the door. I can only imagine that they are getting a cut! I guess if you have no one in your store buying boots, you may need to modify your business model to accomodate revenue from towing cars out of your lot! Needless to say this activity was inconsistent with all my other experiences in Austin. Great town, great people. It's sad to see a local company like Allens Boots doesn't uphold the culture of Austin and behaves in such a despicable manner!!! I have asked all my friends in Austin to tell their friends not to shop there. This practice is deplorable!
Allen's boots Round rock. I agree with the review before mine. My car also got towed there once. And at the same time another person got their car towed too. I can't help but wondering if towing customers cars is part of their business.
allen boots round rock. i went to allen boots the other day to pick up some steel toe boots for my new job and had my car toed by the employee. he said it was because i walked 100 feet away to pay my cell phone bill first at crickett. And when i went to ask him where my car was he was rude about where they had it towed. i would not suggest you going to this location. If you do go make sure you walk directly into the store if not the rude hick is going to have you towed and just to let you know it will cost you a minimal of 215.40. i learned my lesson and that is never go there again. just wanted to let everyone know that allen boots doesnt really care for there customers.
Courteous service. I actually called this place to ask some questions about a Lucchese boot i bought on ebay. The man who answered the phone knew he wasnt going to get my business b/c i'd already bought the boot on ebay, but he still answered all my questions to help me ensure the boot was authentic. He even went and found a boot in the stock room to check a question I had. What great customer service that is unfortunately so rare these days!
