Zookeeper (Great spiders, lizards, and feeder animals here, and educated staff as well)

This is a very good pet shop for unusual pets: staffed by folk (interesting human species in and of themselves) who know their business. It is a very good place to go buy a bird eating spiderling (and buy the pinhead crickets to feed it with), to look at a sloth (and to grieve that there is no corresponding Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, Envy, and Pride one can cage), and to check out the two most venomous spiders in Texas (the Black Widow and the Brown Recluse) to make sure you don't have them in your outbuilding. A good road trip is to go here on the way to other North Austin destination: just don't let the crickets escape. Maybe you should go here AFTER the other errands . . . .

Awesome place, the kids love it!

The Zookeeper is an oasis of unusual pets. The employees are very friendly and obviously love kids, they even took the time to show my children some of the wonderful creatures in the store. This is a great place to buy an animal-they are eager to help educate customers on the proper care of their pets. We bought my daughter her first ferret from the Zookeeper. It was already litter trained and had obviously been handled a lot, it is the sweetest, gentlest ferret. If you want a great pet visit this place, you will have a hard time leaving though-it's an amazing place, a lot like Noah's Ark.

Zoo Keeper Exotic Pets....Yup, its a keeper!

With a vast knowledge of reptiles, amphibians, and well....pretty much anything noah had on his ark, Zoo keepers is by far the best exotic pet store austin has , and i would venture to say Texas has as well. The entire staff is friendly, and will answer any questions and/or concerns regarding any pet(s) that you may have or that is on your wish list. I have made many purchases from zoo keeperes, and everyone is an animal that they have educated me on in some way, shape or form. good choice for exotics

Although crowded on the weekends, (usually with kids wanting to look at all the animals), this store offers an excellent selection of alternative pets. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful, and seem to enjoy their jobs.

Not your every day pet store

They are very informative. The staff is a bit interesting but so are the pets for sale.
