As old South Austin as it gets! No
pretense here just authentic Tex Mex in a no frills setting. The frozen avocado margaritas are legendary and the ceviche is the best in town. Come here for a casual weekend brunch too and dine on huevos ranchos and extra strong coffee.

Best carnitas ever!.
I have had a few of the menus items and been pleased. Their carnitas with homemade red tortillas however are amazing. Drinks are well made but too sweet at times for me. Last time we were there the server brought us all an extra shot when we asked for a little less sweetness :). Well done service!

Citysearch Editorial Review.
Curra's Grill has a laid-back atmosphere, with several dining areas indoors and a large patio outside, where patrons can sit at brightly colored picnic tables or tables covered with Mexican tiles. Paintings by local artists add a homey vibe. Items to try include queso flameado, red snapper seviche, and cochinita pibil--shredded pork wrapped in a soft banana leaf and flanked by plantains. There's also taco de cajeta--caramelized goat's milk on a browned flour tortilla.

Best Ever!.
The service is great, friendly, and attentive. The food fresh & delish. I eat there every Austin trip I take and tell everyone that's going to Austin. So far every person I've turned on to this delight (approx. 20 thus far) has shared my enthusiasm.

Great tasting food.
This restaurant is not much to look at and even the menus seem about 20 years old but the food is just really good. A lunch special of pork flautas was crispy and full of flavor. A pork dish wrapped in banana leaf was so tender and flavorful served with amazing plantains. Lamb empenadas were crispy with a nice filling. Great Salsa. Great churas which are pinto beans with bacon. Great meal overall and terrific value

Food is yummy but the manager is not.
I used to be a south Austin Curra's regular. I loved the food. The service wasn't always great, but that was ok.... until one night. My boyfriend and I were hungry, and went to Curra's. To make a long story short, a waiter seated us after we were ignored for a long time waiting to sit. Then, the manager bitched him out right in front of us for him having sat us. He calmly apologized to her, stating why it seemed ok for him to sit us there. (She had totally ignored us up until that point) We were quite embarrassed, and so was our waiter. We asked him if that was his manager, and we told him we were so sorry that he had to work for someone like that. He told us that not only was she the manager, but she was also the owner.
I do not want to support a business that mistreats their employees, especially in such an embarrassing, unprofessional way. There was no need for the owner to yell at our waiter at all, except perhaps for some sense of control or power.
I now don't go to Curra's. I miss the food from time to time, but I do not want to give that woman any of my money.
