Stopped here twice in one day after a
long night of debauchery. I like my coffee strong and they delivered on that. They have a bunch of pastries that are ripe for the picking. I went with the blueberry muffin. Not a bad choice. It is sad when you are surprised to see a REAL blueberry in a blueberry muffin. Be sure to stop by and grab a cup of coffee and a muffin.

Great Coffee, Good Chill Spot in SoCo.
Friendly people serving up my favorite iced latte. The breakfast tacos are delicious -- don't forget the spicy, green hot sauce! Every weekend there is great music playing on the patio. Jo's House Band is a good one to catch. This is a great place to sit back and enjoy SoCo.

Great coffee and food.
They not only have really good coffee, the food is wonderful also. And it's a great place whether you are there alone with a good book or hanging out with friends.

This hip south Austin hangout serves rich espresso and some of the best baked goods in town..
In Short
Step up from the street corner to the window of this tidy little shack and order from the chalkboard menu. This neighborhood joint is located across from the Continental Club, so don't be surprised to see your favorite musicians grabbing a "cup of Jo" to go. The open-air seating offers a small patch of shade for dining. The unique sandwich selection ranges from albacore tuna with capers and lemon aioli to wheat-roast vegetarian barbecue.

Whoops on the $8 salad.
The new Jo's in the 2nd Street District is very cool & hip. Beautiful granite countertops, white cabinets and creative lighting. It brought Austin's very own special uniqueness (a little hippie, a little retro) with it to it's new shop on 2nd. I love the coffee, pastries and I really wanted to love the cobb salad. At $8 a salad I thought "Oh, it's Jo's, it's probably worth it - just check it out." To my surprise, for $8, it's such a tiny little pile of lettuce & blue cheese, and after a 15 min wait (with not many folks actually eating food), I was surprised to be missing the best part, avacodo and bacon. YIKES! Will have to go back & try the burger or other sandwiches. I love you enough to give you one more chance Jo. See you soon.

Great atmosphere.
Jo's not only has great food, coffee and urban vibe, it is also child and dog friendly. There is something unique about Jo's - it is the only restaurant I have found that my toddler will sit still and relax with everyone. She enjoys the oat cakes and watching the motorcycles, classic cars and shoppers on Congress.
Parking tip: Park on James street, and when you leave, go up the big hill and turn north - this will loop you onto Nellie St. which has a light for safer turns onto Congress.

People watching hangout.
This is my favorite coffee spot in Austin! It has a unique southwestern/european feel and the menu is fantastic! Plus they show movies and have musicians and DON'T miss the Sinner's Brunch on Sundays with a South Austin Speedball! The masterpiece caffeine rush in my opinion though is the Iced Turbo!

No One's Mentioned The Music!.
Ditto the previous comments and add, "Fantastic music during the Sunday Sinner's Brunch." Tina Rose, et al create the perfect atmosphere for Jo's. Folks: These are first-rate musicians.
