Chinese lunch pleases all in our party.
Four of us ate today at Mandarin for lunch. Although I live north, I have always kind of liked this restaurant. However, I always hope when I come here I don't get mugged in the parking lot.
It is ordinary, yet good. The soup is very good, and everything else is decent. We were seated and served promptly and everyone was satisfied so I am not going to "dish" them. Sorry for the pun.
In addition, the cashier let us all pay individually which I am sure is annoying for them. We appreciated that the accommodated us.
Do you like katchup?. Asked for all white meat and were told everything was already made. That should have been our cue to move thourgh the exit and pay for only the soup and ice tea. Garlic Chichen tasted as if the sause was katchup and the General Tso's tasted just 2 steps bellow ok. It's was inexpensive. At lease we now know where not to go.
Watch your wallet in this place..
Mandarin provides decent enough Chinese food for a reasonable price. However, I will NEVER GO BACK. The problem is I was debited $44.53 from my debit card. My meal for two was $14.53 and I wrote in a $3.00 tip. I happen to catch that I was charged $44.53 the next day when I was checking my bank account.
No big deal, things happen. The problem is they would not fix it. I called them and "tried" talking to one of the staff. She said no problem, come in and she would fix it. When I got there, she would not fix it. I brought my receipt and the bank statement. Pretty simple math. Her and the waitress that served me argued about what to do and said they would talk to the owner and call me. I left them my phone number. Owner never called. Followed up several days later and talked to another girl who said she was the owners daughter. She would make sure it was taken care of. Never heard anything back.
STAY AWAY from Mandarin on Oltorf, plenty of better honest Chinese food places to go to.
Splendid Chinese Food!. I enjoy eating at Mandarin. The staff is very friendly, the food is delicious, and the prices are amazingly low. I recommend the hot and sour soup. I have never tasted one similar to it. Their vegetable fried rice, kung pao chicken and sweet & sour chicken are very tasty. Mandarin is definitely a great place to eat Chinese food!!
Great food. Food is always awesome. I suggest delivery or pick up. It is often noisy and wait staff tends to be slow in house.
Best in Austin. The food is amazingly fresh upon delivery. The drivers are really nice too! I recommend this place to eat and I think it is by far the Best in Austin!
Don't judge a book by its cover. Mandrin's is one of those restaurnts that are great to go back to. The hot and sour soup is the best and all they have great lunch and dinner specials, plenty to choose from. The plaza in which it is located is not attractive but their food is awsome.
Consistent and Delicious. I've been a regular at this restaurant for over fifteen years. The food is consistently good, and the service is quick and courteous. They handle large numbers of people during weekday lunch, and they have good take-out for people on the go.
