In Short – The self-declared King of Mexican Food has a long history of serving the rich and famous, but it became an Austin institution because it caters to a timeless, fad-less clientele: families. The Bob Armstrong dip is a mouthwatering combination of queso, guacamole and ground beef. Shrimp avocado pico comes in a cocktail glass layered with shrimp, cilantro, tomatoes and avocado. The fajitas are worthy of their fame, with sizzling veggies and meats. Creamy flan has a sweet caramel sauce underneath.
Best Queso!

The Brisket Bob is outstanding!! They have a great chicken chili rellenjo and pretty good service. It's usually always packed so be sure to go early.
Average Tex-Mex

Started off great with good mexican martinis and margaritas. They carry a new tequilla called Chinaco Silver - very good!
Ordered the brisket tacos. The meat was semi-dry, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp all day. My gf ordered the vegetarian enchiladas, and they were above average. Very loud place with a relatively younger crowd. Cool atmosphere, but average overall.
- Pros: Good Margarita - they carry Chinaco Tequilla
- Cons: Average food
Lousy Food! Not Worth the Wait or Money
by CoryS
Tasteless food, deafening and definitely not worth waiting for a table. To top it off, my stomach paid the price, too. High greasy/fat Tex Mex. Have had better fast food Mexican food. The place is definitely not what I remembered from 10+ years ago.
- Pros: Know not to go there again.
- Cons: Food, wait, up all night going to the bathroom.
