Delicious Italian, Easy Atmosphere. I went the other day with my wife, she got the eggplant parmigiana and I got the veggie lasagna(the server said it was her favorite thing to get). Both were delicious but the veggie lasagna was awesome. I measure an Italian place by its tomato sauce(of course) and theirs was fantastic. The mix the red and white together for the lasagna and pour it around the piece of lasagna you get so you can cut off a bite, dip it in the sauce then enjoy...I enjoyed. We sat in the front of the store with a nice view of Barton Springs, drank a tasty bottle of their house Chardonnay, and got great service to boot...nice evening overall and I would recommend it to anybody. Very Austin too, if you will, I plan on taking relatives there when they come into town.

Really Great Evening. I was there this weekend and a really great time! The food was great and the atmosphere a lot of fun. I don't enjoy Reale's as much as the last writer but who cares! I love this quaint nostaligic piece of Austin and will continue to go to this place...It beats North which is way overpriced!!

Romeo's probably IS the best Italian food in central austin, and that's just sad.. Mediocre food at best. The chicken parmigiana tastes like it came out of a Tyson restaurant pack and the red sauce from a jar of Ragu. For excellent Italian food, I recommend Reale's out on 183, it's authentic Italian food imported from Long Island, NY, and tastes like the real deal to me, having grown up in that area. They have the plastic table cloths and styrofoam planters full of plastic grape vines, and they also have the Reale family wandering around and making sure you're enjoying their restaurant.

Bad Italian. I tried so hard to like this place after everyone at my university told me to go there. It was a terrible attempt at creative Italian. My chicken alfredo barely had alfredo and had some kind of ancho seasoning. It was strange. The caprese did not taste fresh. There were basil leaves in my mojito. My "Italian Creme Cake" was white cake with bad frosting. Ew. Never going here again.

Food was ok.. But one of the best in Austin? Don't think so..(hope not). This place was highly recommended so we went with the whole fam. Nothing here in inexpensive, the ecor so-so, but great location. Service didn't offer much info for new customers... food just ok. It's as if they needed additional seasoning or something. Had the Shrimp Romeo, not a whole lot of flavor goin on there. We're from chicago and are used ot having great food around us.. for the price we really expected a lot more. Ciola's beats this place hands down. May return due to location but not any time soon. Overall just average and therefore a disappointment.

Great Staff and Food. I stopped in this restaurant and really enjoyed the ambiance, the food and the staff. The calamari was cooked t o perfection as I enjoyed a great glass of wine. This restaurant is a great Austin find and I enjoyed my stuffed shells so much I took another home!

Loved the live piano and very nice staff

incredibly horrible. Romeo's was a family run business until late 2004, when it was bought by an "entrepreneur" as a business investment. After eating there, it is clear he didn't put any money into the recipes, staff, or ambiance. The staff ranges from indifferent to rude...clearly they don't care if you return. The eggplant parmesan I tried was inedible. If you can imagine leaving a full diaper out in the sun for a few hours, then eating it...you've eaten at Romeo's. Do yourself a favor and go to Frank and Angie's instead...it's funky but good food and decent service.

Bad Service, Not So Good Food. My boyfriend and I decided to try Romeo's b/c we read that it was voted one of Austin's "most romantic" restaurants and there was a coupon in the Austin Chronicle. Even with the coupon, it was not worth it. The waiter was rude, he only spoke to my boyfriend and hardly acknowledged me. He didn't bring us any bread until I asked for it - after our food had arrived. I ordered a simple pasta and it was fine but my boyfriend ordered the salmon risotto special which was terrible. It basically tasted like a big fried cheese stick. With all of the great restaurants that Austin has to offer, I definitely will not be going back to Romeo's anytime soon.

Pleasantly Surprised!. My wife and I took my stepdaughter and her friend to dinner here last night. Our food was excellent. We had the Roasted Garlic Appetizer. My Chicken Marsala was very tasty, however the chicken breast was slightly overcooked. My wife had the Shrimp Romeo. It was very good and the girls had Spaghetti & Meatballs which were very good. Only one complaint. Our waiter had too many tables (counted 8) for a Friday night shift. He was long in bringing our bar drinks and he had to be asked for bread and olive oil numerous times. Otherwise, we enjoyed the piano player and the atmosphere. We will be back!

Kinda, Sorta sucked.. Probably some of the worst (and most overpriced) italian food we have had in a while. Like another review previously stated, could have made the dishes we had for about half the price and with much better results. Eggplant Parmesan cut about an inch thick - and undercooked - real amateur cooking here. Yes this place has some sort of kitshy charm but the food flat out if atrocious.
