Service is a bit slow, but there are great volleyball games to watch. Great drink specials and awesome PB&J!
Good Fun, People, Food and Drinks. The atmosphere is fun, the wait staff was attentive, and the french fries were fresh hand cut that day. I got the avocado burger and loved it. We had those sloppy nachos and the brisbane chicken bits with honey mustard and it was all awesome. The beer is a wide selection and was cold and tasty. They have a full bar as well if you want liquor. The value was good too as the beers were on sale. Loved IT !!! The volleyball outside is an added plus and fun to play or watch
This place knows how to party. They have regulation beach volleyball with referees and great "bar" food and drinks. At the front bar, the old salts happily got their drink on while in the rear patio area, volleyball and various other partying carried on. This was all after midnight on a Monday. Yeah. That's what I said. Party on!
Drinks & V'ball.
The main draw to Aussies is the sand volleyball and the cheap drinks. Even if you don't play, it's fun to watch and hang out outside with everyone. They have free pick-up volleyball almost every night after 11pm.
The food is nothing special, just your typical bar food. If you choose to eat inside, you can play an interactive trivia game through the TVs mounted throughout the restaurant.
No-frills pub grub, ubiquitous beer and sports (spectator and participatory) are what this bar does best..
In Short
Casual Aussie's is covered in sports paraphernalia and attracts all ages. The most popular areas are the lively bar, complete with several TVs showing sports, and the patio. Also available: a dining room with pool table annex, plus sand volleyball courts. A full bar has many draught beers plus a top-notch tequila selection. Food options include self-described sloppy nachos, (tortilla chips topped with chili, tomatoes, chives and jalapenos) and sausage queso with plenty of spice.
No support for UT fans. Do not assume that Aussies will play UT sports on their Big Screen TV. My friends and I showed up to see UT play Penn on 03/17/06. Because there was already a Kansas fan at the bar they reserved the big screen for Kansas and in the dinning area would only show the UT game on a small 19" TV. The on duty manager said there was nothing she could do. When I called back to see if they would be showing the next UT game they confirmed that if someone else from another team showed up they could reserve the big screen TV. If you want to watch UT sports instead of playing volleyball I would strongly recommend a different bar that appreciates UT fans and their business.
Food and Football!. I first discovered Aussie's while looking for a place to watch the UT Vs. UNT football game with my some buddies. I was pleasently surprised to find a place with a laid back atmosphere, great food at an affordable price, football on TV and wait staff isn't bad to look at either! Not only that, but they have a free fantasy football leauge with some great prizes. Sure the service is a littel slow, but if you want to kick back with a beer and some friends, the pace is just right. Highly recomended!
Aussie's is Awesom. Great food. Good proportions. For those that are health nuts, there are some great menu items. For those of you who are not, the Malts/Shakes are MMMMM good!
The Honest Truth. I play in a league at Aussie's, but I only go there for the volleyball. Do not go waiting for good, quick service or good food (other than the burgers). But if you like beer and/or ritas and people-watching, it's a definite yes. Just don't expect anything more and you'll be fine.
