The 2nd location after Lake Austin Blvd, but just as good as the original. Best Tex-Mex in Austin IMHO.

Love it!. I eat here all the time, love it! I didn't have a great server this last time, but maybe she was just having a bad day! The food and price are always good!

A lot of flavor for a small lot.. If there is one thing I will say that is bad really about this place is that there is never enough room, to park, to sit, to enjoy a good time. I like all the people that work there, Dean the manager is awesome and food hasn't changed overly much in the almost 8 years I have gone here. Be it the price on the food has gone up some but the flavor is still there.

Why do the servers have to be so ....uugghh?. I love the idea of Maudie's. It's so Austin. However, I do agree with another reviewer that this place is kind of dirty. You tend to stick to everything there, especially the table. And I could probably get over that and the fact that the food is so-so (I will agree that they have excellent chips n salsa) if the servers were nice. But they aren't. Borderline rude, actually. And bless one waiter's heart, he couldn't do the math on our check. He told us we needed to do it next time. Next time? I'm not sure about that! And it's the same thing every time...bad service and OK food. I'm not sure why I go back other than I am with a group of people and just going with the flow.

And I agree the guacamole is weird...I don't think it's made with real avacodoes? It's like avacado paste or something? In my opinion, there are many other great places to eat Tex-Mex in Austin other than Maudie's.

Terrible!. This place is TERRIBLE! I couldn't believe that the parking lot was packed because usually that's the indication of great food but no! All the dishes I could see were watered down pieces of sad tex-mex! The meat is flavorless, they don't drain their lettuce, their guacamole has an offensive amount of garlic, and...it's dirty! The table we were seated at wasn't clean from the last customer. Definitely NOT recommended.

Tex-Mex favorite offers healthy menu options as well as rich menu standards.. In Short
Maudie's Cafe is a compact Mexican restaurant, filled with high energy and home-style cooking. To start your day, the sausage migas con queso includes two eggs, scrambled Mexican style with onions, tomatoes, peppers, corn tortillas, and grated cheese, with beans. Light eaters might prefer the light plate, which features a crispy taco, guacamole salad and chile con queso over tostadas. Salsa is made daily.

great tex-mex. this place is awesome for tex-mex which most texans are used to. very busy most of the time, so get there a little earlier than the usual eating times. good prices for irrestible food.

Best salsa & chips in town!. The thin chips are the best in town. Best cheese enchiladas in Texas (this is one of the few remaining Mex restaurant that actually gets the cheese nice and melty, instead of luke-warm & hard). Their rice is outstanding, as are the margaritas! Service is speedy.

It does get loud, so tell grandma to remember her hearing aid!

Maudie's Migas. In my opinion, Maudie's migas are the best I've ever had. I've had a lot....With sausage and just enough jalapenos, it sure helps wake you up!!

Yummy Verde. The first time I went to Maudie's Too I ordered the vegetarian (cheese) enchiladas with the verde sauce and it's so good I've never ordered anything else since. The staples -- chips, salsa, rice & refried beans -- are all excellent and true-to-form Tex Mex. None of that white rice and black beans business. The South Lamar location has great casual atmosphere, although service tends to be slow. It won't bother you if you have a margarita or two. Plenty of parking and usually no wait for inside seating, or sit at the bar and wait for an outside table where you can enjoy the view of the bus stop.
