this place won't be an undiscovered gem for long. they're undertaking a big renovation project--updating sound and lights and bathrooms and whatnot, and really making a push to get it some more street cred in the world of austin rock clubs. well, i'll count myself as one of the lucky ones that discovered it first. great bands, unpretentious service, low cover charges, pool tables, an outdoor smoking area, pool tables, cheap beer, plenty of parking around. gotta love trophy's.
Pros: location, prices, lack of pretention
Cons: can't think of any. it's a rock club. it's fun.

Trophy's is one of the best kept secrets around Austin. If you're expecting a slick 6th Street atmosphere, go to 6th Street. If you want real Austin-made music go to Trophy's. It's a dive in every meaning of the word but that's not a bad thing. Great local musicians (from country to punk), fun special gigs (like the Tom Waits Tribute Night or James Rider's XXXmas), quick bartenders for cold beer and set-ups (yes, you can bring your own bottle)...you just can't beat it. Besides it's next door to Magnolia Cafe! And that's some good stuff!!!
Pros: great music, efficient bartenders, beer is only $2.50
