Editorial Review for Amelia's Retro-Vogue and Relics – by Dianne Murray
In Short
This store is a staple for costumers and set designers as well as fun-loving locals. Glamour clothing is strongly represented, as flapper dresses and feathered hats evoke the spirit of Clara Bow and Louise Brooks. The hat collection is extensive, with every era fully represented. Come for a vintage Red Cross uniform with the original hanky or head to Barton Springs in a rubber puckered swim cap and '40s Catalina trunks.

Upon entering the store you will feel it take you back to a bygone era. Not just your ordinary vintage store. Amelia's is a place to find that piece of history that will make your mother, father, of grandparents proud of you for having learned the difference between just nice and exceptionally exquisite. There is something here for everyone. For some, there are many somethings. The next time you find yourself shopping for something vintage, stop by Amelia's.
Pros: staff overly knowlegable and helpful

Amelias is simply the best vintage store in Austin. Whether youre looking for a 1950s prom dress or a 1930s garden party frock, youll not be disappointed in this time-travelers paradise. The owner is quite knowledgeable about different eras and styles of clothing, from the turn of the century to the early 1960s. Want to know if youd wear gloves with that outfit? Or what sort of handbag to carry with a 1940s gabardine suit? Shell be happy to offer her informed and often quite entertaining counsel. Furthermore, shell do so wearing one of the greatest hats youve ever seen. The shop itself is inviting and colorful, with a section for mens and childrens clothing as well as womens. Merchandise is plentiful, yet uncrowded. Hats adorn the walls and a well lighted jewelry display draws the eye to the swoops, swirls and sparkles of the classic designs of bygone eras.
