Great store, except... the staff has an
idiot (glasses, mustache with goatee, receding hair, wore a white plaid shirt) who can't comprehend a simple question. I brought an empty case to ask him "Do you have this movie?" There are only two ways to answer the question: "Yes" or "No". This dumbf**k instead said that I'm holding a jewel case, and the actual discs are on the shelf behind him. I repeated the question. He repeated the same response. Is it so difficult to answer "Yes" or "No"? I got the impression that the movie has been checked out. So I asked him when is it going to be returned. He then told me about the rental policy, took a copy of the rental policy and showed it to me. Again, he refused to answer the question. I looked at him dumbfounded, because it's obvious that I'm talking to an idiot and he didn't know how to answer the simple question. It took him several minutes - and at least 5 dumbf**k responses - before he finally understood that I want to rent the movie. The staff member next to him was laughing. As dumbf**k went to find the movie, I call him an idiot. I'm sure it was loud enough for the staff member and dumbf**k to hear.
Don't get me wrong. I'll keep coming back, so long as anybody BUT dumbf**k help me at check-out. If the staff insist that he has to serve me, I'll leave.
If I were Jesus, I would rent videos from here.
I've been coming here ever since I moved to Austin almost 13 years ago. I love this place. Really, this video store will always hold a place in my heart.
They have everything; every movie you could ever want is located within the confinements of the store. The prices are wonderful. It's only $2.71 per movie or $2.44 if you have your GoLocal card. Even more importantly you can get two videos for the price of one on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Honestly, if you use Netflix and are within range of going to Vulcan Video, I do wish nothing but plague and famine upon you because this is the best video store on the planet. Quit reading this review and go there right now. Seriously.
Best in town.
Vulcan video is the best video store because of the selection. They don't have 30 copies of the latest release, but they do have animation, westerns, drama, foreign films, horror, sci-fi, romance, special interest, new release, and more. The layout is easy to understand. If you know what you want, you'll find it pretty quick. The staff rocks too.
