What People Are Saying About DoubleDave's Pizza Works

In Short – Double Dave's Wild N' Woolly Wednesdays used to be the things Austin legends are made of--all the food you could eat and all the beer you could drink for one price. Happy hour laws have tightened, but there's still deals on all-you-can-eat pizza with a beer included every Wednesday night. Crowds come for the friendly atmosphere and the tall pitchers of beer to share.

Round Rock Location Rips you off

by RREaters123

Yesterday, I went by the Round Rock Location (2300B Chisholm Trail) and inquired about an order of pizza rolls. I asked the cashier "When you eat a pizza roll, how much sauce would you typically use container-wise with each roll?" and her response was "Personally 2 rolls per container" and I 100% totallly agreed! This makes sense from my long experience from eating them. So then I asked how many sauces you get per 20 rolls and she said "3". Now, I've ordered more times than I can count from Round Rock, so I already knew this to be the case but I'm pretty frustrated with them at this point because I feel they rip off customers by not only severly limiting how many you "get" but by charging people $0.50 cents per container of marinara. The "owner" comes over and asks what the quesiton is and I refer to sentiment of both myself and the cashier that you generally use up about 1 container for 2 rolls MAYBE 3 rolls. He states that it comes with 1 container per 6 rolls, but that CORPORATE mandates the charge for the extra sauce and that he is simply "a franchisee"? and isn't overly nice about this. I thought he might be lying so I just called your Corporate office and they confirmed that they do not "set prices" for the franchises.

So this will be the LAST time I ever eat at the Round Rock Franchise.

Double Dave's Managers Need Sensitivity Training or Another Job

by rl1101

I brought up the fact to the GM Chris Clemes that the ice machine was not producing ice and could he please fill it up. Chris replied that "they had a busy lunch rush and the ice machine had not caught back up yet." I asked him if it normally took 8 hours to make ice and he took a very don't-care attitude and replied that he "didn't know the logistics of the ice machine." He also mentioned that "the drinks are cold already."

He began throwing the pizza away about 10 minutes after my friend purchased her buffet at 8:25 PM. We were all under the impression that the buffet ended at 9 PM because we did not know that the hours had changed 2 weeks prior. We were even sold buffets respectively at 8:10 PM and 8:25 PM.

Chris advised me that pizza over 45 minutes old has to be thrown away by law. I just wonder how long that pizza had already set up there by 8 PM because when we arrived at 8:10 PM it already looked kind of old.

I advised Chris that my friend had just purchased the buffet only 10 minutes prior. He was very rude in telling us that the buffet had closed at 8 PM, but he was willing to take her money for a buffet at 8:25 PM.

After some negotiation, we were about to reach a compromise in that Chris said he would make us a pizza. That seemed like a fair resolution.

But Chris' apathetic attitude was prevalent. He advised me that I shouldn't be upset about the ice, that he didn't care, and that if I didn't like that then I could "write a letter to my local Congressman."

I asked Chris, the General Manager, if Double Dave's was in the business of writing laws now. Chris advised me to leave. I told him I wanted to at least finish the meal that I had paid $9 plus $1 in advance tip. He told me "NO, I will call the cops." He called the cops and I left. Is this anyway to treat a paying customer who also brought 5 other friends (paying customers) to eat at their establishment? I urge anyone who reads this to boycott Double Dave's.

REALLY???

by doughboyabc

The manager (Brian at WC at Brodie) was rude about making change for a $100 bill. All of the tables were dirty and needed to be cleaned. The salad bar was filthy. The employees had excessive facial hair and long hair that was in no way restrained via hairnet or ball cap. I finally stopped eating when an employee put his finger in his mouth and then handled food. I tried to communicate this to the corporate office via website, but never received any type response. cheap!

by coaxialflutter

The word is cheap. It's a typical pizza buffet - very bland, lame ambiance and even lamer cashiers. Just look down the street and you'll see quality places to eat. I heard a rumor that this place was owned by the late Dave Thomas of Wendy's. Not good either way.
