Amy's Ice Cream. An ever-changing menu of traditional and offbeat ice cream flavors keep people coming back to this Austin institution again and again.
Hippy Joint with Horrible, Understaffed Service. If you are under 40, have lots of time to kill (as in NO JOB), are '420 friendly', like to flirt with the ONE server on duty, and don't mind holding up a line of 10 + other customers--this is the place for you! The server(s) are in no hurry here. Highly recommended if you want to kill 30-45 minutes waiting in line listening to flirting, 420 talk, stories about 'my mom' and watching the clerk stare out the window. Buy why should Amy and Steve change this? They are making a fortune by double-pricing the ice cream! The ice cream, of course, is great, but then it SHOULD BE at these prices!…
Yippieeeee!.
For the family that did not like the mexican vanilla ice cream at Amy's...I say ....Yipppieeeeee!
That means there are less people in line ahead of me when I go get my favorite ice cream treat!
Mexican vanilla ice cream is very very flavorful. If you can't taste the mexican vanilla flavor...and no one in your family can taste this very flavorful ice cream...then your family may have a genetic problem pertaining to the ability to taste foods accurately. I am not being mean or cruel... but folks...this ice cream has a very very distinctive and strong flavor. That is commonly know fact . That is why it is such a favorite.
If your family cant pick up on this flavor.... or the strength of it's flavor...there might be something "genetically haywire"that you should have checked out.
No telling how many wonderful flavors you are missing out on in life.
Mexican vanilla ice cream at Amy's.....Rocks!…
Texas heat can be beat with cool creations from this homegrown ice cream parlor..
In Short
Amy's Ice Cream has been a tradition since Amy Miller opened the first shop in 1984. With such unique flavors as Mexican vanilla, sweet cream and, for the truly Texan, Shiner Bock,
there's an ice cream concoction here for everyone. On warm evenings, a crowd of families and couples gather and the murmur of friendly chit-chat can be heard over the sound of paddles beating candy or cookie mix-ins into ice cream scoops.…
The perfect reward for a hike around Town Lake!. I was in Austin for business last month and read about Amy's Ice Cream in several guide books. I made a special trip to the 6th street location, almost making myself late for my plane home, but it was worth it! Mexican Vanilla with prailine sauce - oh my god. And then, lo and behold, there was a branch at the airport!…
