You laugh, but how many times have you gone to Pluckers for legitimately greasy, crunchy chicken wings? Exactly. This 20 year-old, Austin-born wing chain was started by sports fans (two UT grads with a taste for Southern cooking), and it still caters to sports fans -- both via Super Bowl-appropriate eats, and abundant suspended TV's.
south lamar location yes i will make sure this gets to corporate. i was embarrassed and humiliated by a so called manager.. not only did he escalde the situation by approaching my table full of friends and kids telling me why i had made his waitress cry????????? the only issue was that i wanted a combo of ten wings five boneless and five with bone???for some reason that was hard for her to do...and got another manager invovled??? or supervisor...the issue was taken care of the first time and i was well satisfied till john bizeski approached in a very unperfessional rude manner telling me why i had made her cry????????? he refused to give me his managers name...and i told him i wanted my check and leave for the horrible customer service i was given...he took his time doing so... and insisted to emberras my table...four adults and three teenagers~!!!!!!!!!!!! uncomfortable.... be littled i and my table.......ps im pursuing this matter further
I recently ordered take out at Pluckers. It was my first time to try them. I was horribly disappointed. Waiting about 20 minutes of 5 wings. They were the smallest wings I've ever seen and only one was a little drumstick. Won't be back Wasted $6.
great place for getting diarrhea. Let’s admit that being located in UT area, Pluckers is expensive. And when you spend that kinda money you expect your food to be good. I am a student at UT, and due to studying late and hectic work hours, I have to eat a lot at Pluckers because they are usually open late. But every time I eat from there, Jesus it messes up my stomach real bad. Like instant diarrhea (excuse me). I have been trying to complain about this but then I realize this is what it is. Their revenues are too high to worry about hygiene. But what I can do is try to spread this word out their so that someone will pick it up from here and do something about it.
amazing bleu cheese. I've always loved any type of buffalo chicken with lots of bleu cheese, so Pluckers is a favorite of mine. It's kind of dive-ish, and every time I've been have had to wait at least ten minutes, but the bleu cheese and buffalo chicken tenders/wings/buffalo chicken sandwiches are worth it. We recently had Pluckers delivered, but they forgot to bring an extra side of bleu cheese and an order of french fries, and the french fries we did get were soggy because they were packed in the same styrofoam container as the buffalo chicken fingers. I probably won't order delivery again...next time I'll dine in or pick up and save the $3 delivery charge and tip for the driver. Don't go on trivia night unless you want to listen to the highly obnoxious trivia guy who wanders around the place and shouts into the microphone while getting drunk on the beer he totes and swearing at the people who heckle him.
Don't go if you're a sports fan. Okay, so apparently this place is a sports bar...not so sure. If asked to put on the audio to any game, what you'll quickly find out is that the place does not put on any audio game footage unless it is a UT game. What they play instead is music. I guess this place is known for people coming for the loud, out-of-control alternative rock jams. Even the waitress said the music was so loud she couldn't hear herself think--not the kind of place I want to watch a football game. Won't be coming back, since what brought us here in the first place was thinking this place was serious about watching sports.
We tried this place and were pleasantly surprised. Quirky service was fun, the food was tasty, and the carry out menu extensive. We will definitely return! Great wings, onion rings and fried pickles. Never thought something so strange would taste so good.
Only down side is the place was pretty dirty, and we went pretty early on a Sunday. I guess I can learn not to look down while I eat!
Great Wings. Pluckers has some of the best wings in Austin. Pluckers has been a favorite of mine since I could use Bevo Bucks to order in to my room inside Jester. Still the place has the same great taste of wings as it always does. The different flavors for the wings are all delicious, the fire-in-the-hole wings are killer (literally), and the fried pickles make this place a great place to eat. If you have to get a burger, I would suggest the honey bbq burger. Overall it's a great place to hang with friends and/or family.
Great Wings, Somewhat decent prices. I am a big fan of this place. The wings are great. Be sure to get the cajun wings and ask for your favorite sauce on the side. The cajun seasoning is adds a great flavor. Tuesday used to be 25 cent wing night. Now that has risen to 50 cents. Wait can be long when students are in town. Service is usually pretty good. Be sure to get the "Pluckers Card" for $10 coupon for every $100 purchased.
crispy wings + cold beer = the best in austin. big hot crispy wings and a ice cold drink is all you need when you're watching the game they just add the fun stuff restraunt activities that make everyone feel like one big happy family...i love going to pluckers it is my favorite restraunt in austin!
This tongue-in-cheek chicken shop serves up a mean bird..
Pluckers' motto is "If you don't like our wings, we'll give you the BIRD." The late-night, dine-in and delivery poultry purveyor also cooks up chicken sandwiches and tenders, hamburgers, baked potatoes, and cheese fries. Buffalo wings undoubtedly have big bird billing, and they come in portions of five to 100 (the mother plucker). They also have 14 sauces to chose from. Expect a delivery time of 30 to 45 minutes.
