What Our Expert Scouts Say

May 09, 2013

Sure the fluorescent lighting is tough on the eyes and complexion, but this campus-area eatery never fails in the late-night convenience department. Though dishes are nothing to write home about, they are tasty, inexpensive and filling- and sometimes that is all you need. Tip: If you like curry, their curry dishes and soups are deliciously creamy and pack a real kick!

A cozy little West Campus outfit, with huge bowls of curry, wall-mounted TV's, and reliably filling late-night party food. Or hangover food, depending on how long your party lasted.

Delicious Thai that I can count on. They pack a bold spice and make a mean red curry. My favorite Thai take out spot for sure!

Good Thai restaurant near campus that's open very late. Get the nuclear fishin, a fish filet covered in a VERY SPICY & delicious green sauce

Filthy, disgustingly so. This place is so amazingly filthy that I had to sign up to write this review -- and I don't think I have ever written a review on one of these sites, ever.

The food is marginal ... Austin just doesn't have good Thai food ...

But the condition of the restaurant is so neglected and dirty that it makes one wonder about the owners interests ... and the condition of the kitchen and food preparation! If I had seen the door that leads into and out of the kitchen (near the bathroom), before I had ordered, we would have left immediately. It has to be seen to be believed. And everyone that touches your food, touches this door.

It amazes me a place like this could pass inspection ... we do still have that in this country, right?

I guess someone will have to get injured here before anyone does anything about it.

Save yourself and go elsewhere.

Best Thai Spicy Vegetarian choices. This place is probably the best Thai place which offers the spiciest of the curries in Austin. They have a lot of vegetarian choices. I dig their Green Curry and their Fried Rice. They have a special section for the "killer spicy" entree`s and if you like eating burning, hot kinda spicy .. order their "Crying now". its amazing and if you are not used to the heat it definitely lives to up to its name. This place is for my soul food !...

Great Fried Rice. I struggle with finding good rice in Austin. This place was great. The rice was fluffy and it had alot of flavor. My boyfriend and I loved it.

Great thai food!!. This is one of the best thai restaurant I've been to. Great price. Their tofu is delicious. I would say it's a lot better than Madam Mam's. They are sometimes understaffed though. It's also little hard to find because it's partially hidden. Go there.

Genuine Thai Food. The only authentic Thai restaurant in Austin. I have tried countless other places, and nothing comes close to Thai Kitchen. A lot of westernized restaurants purposely omit spices, such as lemongrass and galanga, and the flavors are subsequently off. This is the place to go if you want the real thing.

Wonderful Food. I've been going to the three different locations for over 10 years. After reading some of the other reviews, I knew I had to set the record straight...They have delicious, authentic, and flavorful food. I have introduced the Thai Kitchen to many friends, and everyone has fallen in love with it. Some dishes to try are the thai sandwhiches, shrimp spring rolls, pad thai, peanut soup, and anything and everything else. You can even bring your own beer/wine if you like!

only one dish i will eat. Ever since I have been eating at Thai Kitchen, I will only get the #20 vegetarian dish (mossamun tofu). It is a great combination of spice and sweetness and the crunchy peanuts make it perfect. The veggie egg rolls are also amazing. The only problem I had there before was the service- they insisted that I was wrong in the way that I worded my order. They argued with me for about 5 minutes until they finally saw that perhaps the customer should be right...after that, I didn't go back for a few months. But I go back now because I missed my favorite tofu dish. I have taken many friends there, and now it is one of their favorite resturaunts.

Nice place. Very nice food. Average atmosphere. Wish the restaurant was manned entirely by Thais. Recommended.

From the classic to the exotic, this authentic Thai eatery serves it up right.. In Short
Situated in South Austin for a long time, this venerable Thai restaurant conveninetly brought their authentic cuisine to a more central location. The small and simple restaurant has an extensive menu, ranging from exotic fare like Gang Long Chi Pa, a hot fish ball red curry, to the more familiar Pad Thai and fried rice. There are plenty of meat and fish dishes for those who want them, but vegetarians will also find a diverse selection of meatless items.

A hidden gem. Hands down, the most authentic Thai cuisine in town. Thai Kitchen has an endless menu of unique dishes to choose from. You need to visit on several occasions to fully appreciate the restaurant. Prices can be somewhat elevated on certain dishes, but don't let that hold you back. It's worth the price. If you're looking for a taste of Southeast Asia untouched by American influence, check out Thai Kitchen.
