Kerbey was our go-to college breakfast spot. And lunch too! Gingerbread pancakes for breakfast and kerbey queso for lunch or dinner were and still are staple picks for me. And I love the new look of the Guadalupe location -- it's refreshing and a nice change!
KERBEY QUESO! KERBEY QUESO! I can already hear you shouting. And you're right -- it's melty, cheesy ripples are sinfully good. But can we just talk about their gingerbread pancakes? Holy mother of Jesus. If pancakes are what you crave hungover, order those -- perfectly fluffy with just a touch of spice. And in the fall, you can order pumpkin pancakes!

The early bird special goes from 4-7 a.m. and includes platters for $3.45! Mimosas are always $2 a glass and $12 a carafe.
A regualr diner with decent food. In short, this is a decent diner with a mix of traditional and Austin fare offerings. We tried the queso with guacamole, which was a surprisingly good combination as the guacamole balanced out the richness of the cheese. Just, goes to show in America its always possible to take a fattening food and make it taster better with more fat. We followed that with the migas, scramble eggs with ranchero sauce, and a cob salad. The food was hot, food was good, although simple flavors and the service was average.
After 6th kind of place. Kerbey Lane is another great place to come after a night out on the town. Walking into Kerbey lane, you can notice the distict Austin feel to the place. Another great thing about Kerbey lane is that it uses a lot of fresh ingredients in all its food (and i think organic too but im not too sure). Kerbey lane definitely helps keep "The Drag" what it is. I think the food here is great. They have some of the most filling pancakes in town, so don't be fooled! Overall, Kerbey Lane is a casual and affordable place to eat healthy food.
great breakfast and drunken meals. stick to breakfast items and things they claim as specials. don't be tempted to go with the fancy stuff, you'll be disappointed. great the night of or the morning after! i wouldn't reccommend this if you are over 30, its mostly a student hangout and you don't want to be the weird old person there.
Great weekend breakfast. I love Kerbey for weekend brunches with friends. My favs are their pancakes (try the pumpkin ones), the bean and avocado tacos, the queso of course, and the hummus is really good too. The one bad thing abour Kerbey is the long wait. I suggest trying it on a weekday afternoon or night if you don't want to wait an hour to be seated.
Avoid at all costs. My wife and I dine a lot out; especially for breakfast. We saw how busy it was there on a Sunday morning and we though, "why not". Well here is why, we waited 45 minutes just to be seated, then another 30 minutes to get our food (yes, we counted), then once we got our food it was HORRIBLE. Soggy and burnt bread with our eggs benedict, and etc. I highly reccomend you try another place, unless you are extremely hungry!
Great food and great service. I went to this wonderful restaurant with some friends. We all wanted a late night dinner and it was great that this terrific restaurant was still open. The food was fantastic and the service was incredible. I love this awesome restaurant.
Great Austin place, 24/7 breakfast, but service can be inconsistent.....
I have been to Kerby Lane on many occasions and have rarely had a bad experience. When the experiences were bad, it was usually due to slow service. The food quality was questionable only a couple of times, but we are pretty happy w/ our orders.
Great pancakes, breakfast offerings 24/7, tortilla soup, fish tacos, queso, and sandwiches. You have to know when not to go (i.e. Sunday's from 11a to 2p) and certain dinner schedules. I agree that they could improve their service levels, however, it seems like they're so busy that they're not worried about losing business. Regardless, I always recommend Kerby Lane to all of my friends from out of town.
The worst restaurant in Austin. I have been to Kerbey Lane two times, b/c two different people told me that this restaurant was good. However, both of these same friends did not enjoy their food when I dined with them, and I also did not like the food. Despite these bad experiences, i did not decide to write a review about this restaurant until i saw that the majority of my students at the university wrote on their exams "Kerbey Lane is the worst restaurant in Austin" in Spanish. My students, two of my friends, the other raters before me, and I can assure you that the food and service are way below par.
The "chain" could use some improvement. Kerbey Lane has lost its way when it comes to providing decent food and service. Anything over a cup of coffee at this place and it becomes a near-impossible herculean effort to perform. Staff was outright rude to customers and felt it was more important to spend their time chatting up their friends or taking a smoke break. I, for one, wont go back. Austin has many other independent eateries, I suggest you spend you money there.
So-so service. They are extremely slow and hopefully when you go, you'll get a nice waiter/waitress. I really like that portabella burger and I always get that. Their omelettes aren't bad, either. Nothing too special here...
