doesn't listen and doesn't care. dr. ceballos is my psych doctor and he was way to fast to jump the gun on risky medications for teens. the other day he wanted to prescribe me lithium ( which is very toxic i'd have to take blood test every two weeks to see if my liver is ok and i wouldnt be able to party and im a teen we party by nature.) none of the meds are working i understand we are trying to find the right combo but its very hard when you have to repeat things over and over again and when he only spends five minutes with u. in fact my very first consultation he didn't even ask for my back ground story. ( then again i was at shoal creek so maybe they faxed it to him) if it wasnt so ard to find a juvenile psych that accepts blue cross blue shield and not payment in full i would deffinately switch but im stuck. dont get trapped the other docs maybe more expensive but if u can afford it and you love your kid dont send them to docotor ceballos
Please Seek a 2nd Opinion!. Despite his 30 + years of experience (which he mentioned several times during our appointment with our 15 y.o. son) I do not trust this man to care for my child and will be seeking other help. He did not seem at all interested in our son's history, and was ready to discharge him from the hospital with no plan in place. Please help your child by seeing someone else!
Best Child Psychiatrist. My experience with Dr. Ceballos is very different from those noted. I am an experienced nurse practitioner and have worked in the field for 17 years (in psychiatry as well). When my child had a psychiatric emergency, Dr. Ceballos was present and offered support without enabling behaviors that are counter-productive to the emotional development of my child or young adult as she prefers. It has been 3 years since this happened. While, I sympathize with the situations that others have found with Dr. Ceballos, I beg to differ. Medications for mental illness are used and changed throughout the course of a patient's life-span. Without thorough understanding of the process of diagnostics related to mental illness, it is unfair to claim that the doctor "spends too short a time" with a patient when he spends 15 minutes with a patient. An experienced physician such as Dr. Ceballos can assess, diagnose and treat patients in this amount of time and MOST do. Perhaps, some patients seek the care of a therapist, which is very different from a medical doctor who prescribes medications for psychiatric disorders. Dr. Ceballos is advanced in his career and has been excellent as a provider for my child. I have recommended him to many colleagues and will continue to do so. In addition, the outcomes of his care with regard to my daughter are above standard of care and positive. Many people believe that "taking a pill" will cure a psychiatric disorder. It is one step in the treatment of disorders. Responsibility for behaviors is often a painful process but is imperative in growth and development. Cognitive-behavioral therapy and other interventions are often needed to facilitate in the treatment of patients and this is true for my daughter. Dr. Ceballos has helped us to help our 14 year old daughter. It is NOT easy and life-long behaviors cannot be changed with one pill. It is also important to realize that Dr. Ceballos cannot parent his patients. That is my job.
WHY?. My 16 who is on NO MEDICATION NOW use to see this person. Before age 8 this doctor had my son on anti-pyschotic medications and bi polar medications. It is obvious to me that people that are psychotic and need these medications do not grow out of this, so what happened? How did this doctor reach such a diagnosis? I pray this is not and will not happen to any other children.
red flag. when i see dr. ceballos i feel like i have to be bleeding out my eyes for him to spend more than 15 minutes with me. he has put me on lots of bad addictive medications. i feel that he's burnt out and doesn't care about his patients, just trying to get them in and out. i have seen dr ceballos for many yaers and finally have gotten distrubed enough to leave and find a new doctor. i believe that doctors should spend more time with their patients even if it is just a med check. psychiartists give us mine-altering medications which is very dangersous considering that the chemistry of our brain changes of the medication and we never knoe how we will respond to the change. this is why all patient should be well monitiored when going on a new medication. i feel that many times in my treatment with dr ceballos i was not cared for.
