I first met Dr Woods 6 years ago when my little dog fell ill suddenly needing transfusions to attempt to fight a immune disorder she contracted suddenly after me being talked into a 6 month heartworm shot from our previous vet WellsBranch Pet and Bird Vet, I am pretty sure she was overdosed and ultimatly ended her life. Never meeting Dr Woods before, he took us in and took a tranfusion from his own large dog to give to my small dog trying to kickstart her immune system again. The entire staff worked with us night and day trying to save my little dog even keeping her during the day taking care of her while I worked and sending me home with IV's to keep her hydrated. Unfortunatly nothing we did worked but the vet tech Todd came to my house in south Austin on a Sunday at 9:00pm to put my little baby down after she was having trouble breathing and took her to have her cremated for me. My bill was huge after 3 transfusions and all the IV's, Dr Woods made me only pay for the IV bags and nothing else. They were so concerned as to what the previous vet had done that they wanted to do an autopsy to see what she did but I couldn't bare it. Please NEVER let anyone give you pet a huge dose of anything at one time. Dr Woods is one of the best vets I have ever used and other than being a little shy, is very knowledgable and caring and although some people didn't get the warm and fuzzies about the office I have never had a bad experience with them other than them being VERY busy and if I feel I need to know more information I will ask. We have moved out west and the drive is too far for us now to bring all of our babies and are very very upset to have to change vets but anyone that is looking for a loving "NOT SO NEW" vet, I would totally recommend them. They are like a family when it comes right down to it and will bend over backwards to take care of your babies, especially during an emergency when it really counts.

I love all the staff in Balcones Animal Hospital... I just had a really good experience in the grooming department. That guy was AMAZING, he really know what he is doing!!! I highly recomend the groomer...
Pros: Good parking, good location, awesome grooming staff
