In Short – Several patio tables out front quickly erase the semi-strip-mall location. Walk inside to buttercup-yellow walls, cheery even when the line is long. For sale you'll find eclectic, old-fashioned knickknacks including candles, jams, lamps and cookbooks. Breakfast selections include kolaches with juicy sausage mini-links. Lunchtime favorites feature famous chicken or egg salad sandwiches with soft, homemade bread. Rich, buttery clam chowder brims over with red potatoes and celery.

The first time I went to the Kitchen Door was at the Lake Austin location. I loved it ever since. My boyfriend and I are lucky enough to have moved close by the Far West location and we take our friends there for lunch all the time. My favorite is the pimiento cheese sandwiches and my boyfriend loves the chicken salad sandwiches. The bread is good, the desserts are great and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend The Kitchen Door for lunch or even dinner.
- Pros: inexpensive, delicious, friendly
- Cons: , parking (Lake Austin)
